Harvey Milk's Ghost Visits Film Set
Posted: 17 Nov 2008 10:57 AM CST
The ghost of assassinated San Francisco, California city supervisor HARVEY MILK haunts the site of the camera store he once owned, according to moviemaker Gus Van Sant. The director claims that Milk's spirit turned up on the set of the film, when Van Sant and his stars Sean Penn and James Franco recreated the Castro Camera Shop in the gift store the place has become in the 30 years since the gay public official's murder.Unfortunately, the filmmaker was too busy to notice the spook. He explains, "The gift store owners were very into the legacy of the store and willing to let us close their shop down and move our set in. They had a mural of Harvey Milk."During a shot at night there was a take where we were using most of the room and there were three or four actors in the scene. Some people were sitting on the sofa which was outside of the shot and during one of the takes somebody walked in from outside and sat down on the sofa during the shot."After the shot was over and I yelled 'Cut,' he apparently got up and walked out. The actors were like, 'Did you see that guy?' I didn't see anybody, but they kept describing Harvey, so I figure it was the ghost of Harvey walking into the store for a brief second."________________________________________________
UK Recruits Special FBI 'X-Files' Investigators
Posted: 17 Nov 2008 10:57 AM CST
A crack new ‘X-Files’ squad of special FBI agents has been recruited by the UK Government – because the number of UFO sightings this year has been out of this world.Leading boffins in Whitehall have admitted to being flummoxed by a spate of ‘extra-terrestrial activity’ and have turned to a top US agency to hire in “Mulder and Scully” style investigators. The undercover unit will begin work in a high-tech London lab analysing unexplained photography and debris, before moving into the field to obtain explanations of bizarre crop circles. There has been a huge upsurge in the interest for alien life forms since late last year when the The Ministry of Defence opened its ‘X-Files’ to the public for the first time since records began in 1967.The unveiling has thrust it to the forefront of the public agenda and, amazingly, it has been afforded more debating hours in the House of Lords than foxhunting. But cynics suggest opening the Pandora’s Box has only engaged the public’s over-active imagination. Georgina Grounded of an unnamed local council said: “For a lot of people it’s just a sci-fi fix.“There are those who think that this Fox Mulder fella cuts a bit if a dash and are just desperate to believe.“But these are credit crunched times. We need people with down-to-Earth attitudes.”Numbers of UFO sightings have really taken off this year, dwarfing the total of 135 reported to the Ministry of Defence for the whole of 2007.The Sun recently reported how a flying saucer hovering over Dudley in the West Midlands was photographed by a Wakefield nanny visiting the local castle. And pop oddball Robbie Williams is reported to be penning new tracks after staying at Trout Lake – the number one spot in the US for UFO sightings.Malcolm Robinson, founder of research group Strange Phenomena Investigations, told The Sun last month: “Something really bizarre is happening in the skies over the UK. “________________________________________________
Lee Harvey Oswald Co-Worker No Longer Silent
Posted: 17 Nov 2008 10:56 AM CST
Buell Frazier wants to tell it like it is – or was – on a very important day in U.S. history 45 years ago in Dallas. The quiet, thoughtful man of 64 is not as well-known as some of the others who skyrocketed to fame or infamy in November 1963. But Mr. Frazier played a defining, if unintentional, role in the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. He drove Lee Harvey Oswald to work that fateful Nov. 22. And the Warren Commission, the investigative committee appointed to explain all aspects of Mr. Kennedy's death, claimed that Oswald carried his cheap mail-order rifle to work with him in Mr. Frazier's car. That put Mr. Frazier in the spotlight immediately after Oswald was captured – and long afterward as a mourning nation sought to find an explanation to the tragedy. With but a few exceptions, he has kept almost 4 ½ decades of angst, frustration, fear and occasionally even fury bottled up. All Mr. Frazier did was offer a friendly gesture to a man he hardly knew.Offering a ride In mid-September 1963, Mr. Frazier, 19, moved to Irving to live with his sister, Linnie Mae Randle, her husband and three children. He slept on his sister's couch, drove a clunker Chevy and was pleased to be earning $1.25 an hour, then the minimum wage, at the Texas School Book Depository. As a teenager in Huntsville, Mr. Frazier had deftly balanced high school and several part-time jobs while trying to stay out of the way of an abusive, alcoholic stepfather. But things seemed to be looking up. On Nov. 22, Ms. Randle and Mr. Frazier were finishing breakfast about 7:15 a.m. when she looked out her window and saw a man standing close to her brother's car with a package under his arm. She had never met Oswald, but she knew who he was because Mr. Frazier had driven him to Irving on three or four occasions to visit his wife, Marina, and their two small daughters. Oswald had ridden home with him the previous afternoon. A few minutes later, Mr. Frazier and Oswald headed for the book depository, where they were to report at 8 a.m. They talked a bit about children – Oswald always seemed pleased to relate stories about his girls, Mr. Frazier said – but drove much of the 15-mile trip in silence. Even though the area was inundated with news reports about the president's visit to Dallas later that morning, Mr. Frazier said they never discussed it during the ride. "Lee didn't talk much, ever," he said. "Some people talk a lot. He just didn't." Less than four hours later, Kennedy was shot to death riding through Dealey Plaza. And Mr. Frazier's life was turned upside down.Brown paper package Mr. Frazier was questioned vigorously by police – accused of being involved in the plot to kill Kennedy – and even told falsely by police officers that Oswald had named him as a co-conspirator. After 12 intense hours at the Police Department, he was allowed to take a polygraph test, passed it impressively and was released. The fact that Mr. Frazier helped train Oswald at his new job (Oswald was hired at the book depository Oct. 16) and had driven him to Irving several times soon faded from most people's memories. But another factor remained noteworthy. Officials assumed that the package Oswald carried to work that morning was the Italian-made rifle he used to kill Kennedy. Mr. Frazier still doesn't believe it. When Oswald got in his car that morning, Mr. Frazier hardly noticed the bundle Oswald laid on the back seat. "He told me he was taking some curtain rods for his room," Mr. Frazier said. "I didn't think much about it." Mr. Frazier parked his car behind the depository building and revved his engine for a few moments, charging his low battery, and watched Oswald walk about 200 yards into the building with the package under his arm. In his testimony before the Warren Commission, Mr. Frazier said the brown paper package Oswald carried that morning was too short to contain a rifle. Oswald cupped the package in his hand, he said, and it fit under his armpit. In Washington, Mr. Frazier said, he was "pressured" to change his recollection. In the days afterward, he was badgered by the media, harassed by people who didn't understand his relationship to Oswald and even became fearful for his life. His testimony was important because investigators had proved that Oswald bought the rifle used in the JFK slaying and had found a matching palm print on the stock, but they had no proof that he had it with him that day. Ms. Randle, who was also a leading witness, said recently that when she and Mr. Frazier testified before the Warren Commission, "they tried to get us to say that package was much longer than we recalled, but that wasn't true." The commission kept pushing, Mr. Frazier said. Could it be that he was traumatized by the horror of what happened or embarrassed that he hadn't been more observant? "I know what I saw," he said, "and I've never changed one bit." Size dispute Hundreds of conspiracy theories have spawned thousands of books and articles since the tragedy, but the official investigation concluded that Oswald shot Kennedy from the Texas School Book Depository and acted alone. The Warren Commission cited eyewitnesses to the president's shooting and the later assault of Officer J.D. Tippit and knew that Oswald had bought the Mannlicher-Carcano rifle for $12.95 from a Chicago mail-order house. A brown paper sack with an Oswald palm and fingerprint on it was found close to the sixth-floor window where Oswald sat perched in wait that day. Oswald's claim that he was carrying curtain rods for his room carried little weight with investigators because no curtain rods were ever found in the depository, and Oswald's room on Beckley Street in Oak Cliff already had curtains. In a book he's writing, Mr. Frazier describes how he and his sister assembled packages with wrapping paper for hours, trying to show Warren Commission lawyers the size of the package Oswald carried that day. In its report, released in the fall of 1964, the commission said: "The Warren Commission has weighed the visual recollection of Frazier and Mrs. Randle against the evidence here presented ... and has concluded that Frazier and Randle are mistaken as to the length of the bag." The FBI lab reported that the disassembled rifle stock measured just under 35 inches long, and the homemade bag measured 38 inches. "I wasn't surprised," Mr. Frazier said. "They seemed to have a prearranged agenda when they questioned Linnie and me. Our refusal to agree with their agenda simply caused them to state that we were mistaken." Their testimony fostered early public doubt about the commission's investigation. President Gerald Ford, who in 1963-64 was a Michigan congressman and a Warren Commission member, told reporters in Dallas in early 1964 that he thought Mr. Frazier had been mistaken. "I don't believe for a moment that he was consciously lying," Mr. Ford said then. "This is a fine young man – I've talked to him – who recalls seeing an object a certain size. But if Oswald was carrying curtain rods, as Mr. Frazier claimed he told him, I am a bit confused as to what happened to them." Mr. Ford told a Dallas Morning News reporter that day: "I have never believed Mr. Frazier was involved in anything more than being a good neighbor, a good friend. I don't think he even knew Oswald very well." Actually, Mr. Frazier said, "I didn't know his last name until that day. We all just knew him as Lee. I thought that was his last name." Years of reticence For years, Mr. Frazier refrained from talking about his role that fateful Friday. He hasn't had a listed telephone number for years. Few people have visited his home. In recent years, he has spoken briefly to university classes and others studying the Kennedy assassination. And when a British production company staged a mock Oswald trial in London in 1986, Mr. Frazier was a star witness. He still considers that trip one of his "greatest experiences ever." As the years went by, he served two stints in the Army, worked in Denver and Portland, Ore., with banks and an airline, and studied at Southern Methodist University. He married in 1969 and had a son, Robert, now 29, who graduated from Texas A&M and is in the Army, stationed in South Korea. Mr. Frazier divorced in 1987 and married his current wife, Betty, in 1988. Since 2002, he has worked for the Lewisville school board as the receiving clerk, handling desks, chairs and other equipment to stock the district's schools Asked if co-workers know of his background, Mr. Frazier said: "Some do, on a limited basis." He has mixed emotions about conspiracy theorists. "Conspiracy theories are like noses," he said. "Everybody has one. No one has ever sold me 100 percent that Lee did it. If he did, yes, but some other people were involved in some way." He admits that the circumstances of that November decades ago helped mold his life and personality. "I have had to be more careful and aware of what is going on around me at all times. Being able to trust someone is very hard for me. I simply do not trust people in general." And though he is no longer physically afraid, he's more comfortable staying anonymous. "Though I did nothing wrong," he said, "some of them think I am guilty, that I was involved with him. "And there are people out there still today who think that I helped him, that he and I were in cahoots on that, and you just never know who you're talking to. His sister, Ms. Randle, is a retired nurse in her 70s who lives "in the country" outside Sulphur Springs. She agrees that Mr. Frazier is super-careful and somewhat withdrawn but says she understands why. "Even my children, at the time, we just didn't talk about it because you just never know who you're talking to. There are a lot of kooks out there. "We weren't ignorant, but we were very, very naive," she said. Dave Perry of Grapevine, a friend of Mr. Frazier, said: "When we first met in 1990, he was very distrustful of me. After a very short period, we got off the subject of the assassination and into baseball. "When we get together now," said Mr. Perry, a retired insurance executive and longtime JFK assassination researcher, "it's never about the assassination, but as close friends." David Murph, director of church relations for Texas Christian University, and his wife, Jean, are also friends of the Fraziers. "He is an honest, gentle soul with a good heart who sees and believes in people," he said. Mr. Murph says he hopes Mr. Frazier finds a publisher for his memoirs. "Buell's story is extremely important. It needs to be told." ________________________________________________

'Ghost Hunters' Investigate Wolfe Manor in Clovis, California
Posted: 18 Nov 2008 10:01 AM CST
The creepy old house on Clovis Avenue that has been at various times a sanitarium, a convalescent home and a Halloween attraction has found yet another incarnation -- a paranormal destination.Wolfe Manor, a few blocks south of Shaw Avenue, is the site of popular spirit-seeking tours and a Web-based ghost investigation show. This week, it will be featured on an episode of the Sci Fi Channel's "Ghost Hunters," the leading paranormal investigation show on TV. It airs at 9 p.m. Wednesday. With all this growing clout in the paranormal world, the plan is to turn the property into a haunted hotel that would attract people to Clovis."I get e-mails every day from people," says owner Todd Wolfe. "They're asking 'How do we get reservations?' "History and hauntsWhen Todd Wolfe bought what would become Wolfe Manor in 1997, he had no idea what kind of history the house had. All he saw was the potential for a scary Halloween haunt. As part of his popular "Scream If You Can" attraction, Wolfe and his crew created their own past for the house, calling it Andleberry Estate. It wasn't until the city shut down "Scream If You Can" after seven years that Wolfe and paranormal investigators from the area started to unfold more of the house's history.Through research, they've pieced together that the house was constructed in the early 1920s in a competition between brothers-in-law trying to build the better house. After the Great Depression, the house became both a sanitarium and a convalescent home before becoming dormant until Wolfe bought it.It was during the run of "Scream If You Can" that Wolfe started to realize there was more haunt to the house than what he had created. He says he was touched by something once while decorating. A few more similar experiences turned a skeptical Wolfe into a believer.________________________________________________
MUFON Gathering Over 'Pennsylvania UFO Wave'
Posted: 18 Nov 2008 09:43 AM CST
What started with a single UFO sighting over a Middletown Mexican restaurant Jan. 26 has turned into a science fiction sensation.Spaceships were spotted over Sesame Place.Black boomerangs were reported over Citizens Bank Park during the Phillies National League Championship series. An extraterrestrial even was seen recently in the men's department of the local JCPenney, smiling at our women. With more than 50 reports from Bucks since January, the Pennsylvania Mutual UFO Network says it now will gather here for its next alien hunter conference Jan. 24 at Bucks County Community College.State MUFON coordinator John Ventre is scheduled to discuss what he calls the “Pennsylvania UFO Wave.” The list of speakers also includes self-professed local abductees, including history professor David Jacobs of Temple University. Bucks County also will be profiled in a documentary — “UFOs over Earth” — scheduled to air at 9 p.m. Monday on the Discovery Channel. No doubt, MUFON will have a lot to talk about that day. The encounters reported to the organization are lengthy and, at times, almost too incredible to believe. On June 23, a woman reported seeing an “alien entity” in the JCPenney's men's section. “He was standing by a clothes rack,” the report said. “She described him as being male, no hair, gray skin, almond black eyes with a lumpy heavily wrinkled face.” The alien appeared to be shopping and had a “pleasant smile” for ladies in the store.Yet the woman told MUFON she decided to leave the scene “because she and her husband were planning to attend a movie.” (It's not known which outlet the aliens chose for their shopping spree, though several other sightings were reported near the Oxford Valley Mall.) The spacecraft over Sesame Place was seen Oct.18. As reported to MUFON, the craft had no wings, no windows and was able to instantly change direction. Another report from Oct. 5 recounts “bright quick flickering lights” hovering and disappearing in the sky as well as “several quiet helicopters circling the area.”On Sept. 11, a man from Warrington reported a rumbling noise and a series of falling white lights. On June 6, a Bucks County resident reported a strange object floating down Almshouse Road toward Newtown. Derrick Pitts, chief astronomer for the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia, urges residents not to jump to conclusions about strange celestial sightings. Often times, these objects are identifiable, Pitts said. And even if they can't be explained, that doesn't necessarily make them aliens.________________________________________________
Reports of 'Wanstead Bigfoot' Encounters Continue
Posted: 18 Nov 2008 09:27 AM CST
More people have come forward claiming to have seen a Bigfoot-like creature in the Wanstead and Woodford area. Last week we revealed how fitness instructor Michael Kent saw a peculiar-looking Bigfoot-like animal emerge from trees near the Hollow Ponds area of Epping Forest, on the border between Wanstead and Leytonstone. And now pensioner Irene Dainty, of Love Lane in Woodford Bridge, claims she was left shaking after she came face to face with a hairy creature which surprised her in her street.Mrs Dainty told the Guardian she was “absolutely convinced” that what she saw was not human, or a normal species of animal life. She said: “I had just come out of my flat and just as I had turned the corner I saw this hairy thing come out of nowhere. I really don’t want to see it again. “It was about 4ft tall and with really big feet and looked straight at me with animal eyes. Then it leaped straight over the wall with no trouble at all and went off into the garden of the Three Jolly Wheelers pub. “I was so terrified that I went around to my neighbour’s house and told her what happened. She couldn’t believe it and asked me if I had been drinking, but I said of course I hadn’t – it was only about 3pm.” Park officials have poured scorn on the so-called witness claims and are adamant there are no strange creatures roaming in Epping Forest. Orelia Vaivadaite works at the Three Jolly Wheelers Pub in Chigwell Road, but said she had not seen anything odd in her back garden. She added: “The manager who lives upstairs may have seen it, but he has recently resigned. He didn’t mention anything to me though.”________________________________________________

Photo: The Ghost of Tewin Bury Farm
Posted: 19 Nov 2008 08:38 AM CST
This is a photo taken at Tewin Bury Farm in Hertfordshire by designer Neil Sandbach for inclusion in some Wedding Stationary he was preparing for a couple due to host their wedding at the farm. When Neil opened up the photo on his computer he was surprised, and not a little spooked, when he noticed a blurry white figure that he was certain wasn’t visible when the photo was taken, as there was nobody else around.Neil explains, “a week or so later, just before the actual wedding, and without mentioning the photograph, the couple getting married asked the staff at the venue if anyone had ever seen something ’spooky’. Their faces went white as they described what they had seen on various occasions: the ghost of a young boy dressed in white night clothes, appearing close to the main barn”.________________________________________________
Videos: Several UFOs Captured Near Ladner, British Columbia
Posted: 19 Nov 2008 07:47 AM CST
Witness report:Date of Sighting: November 15, 2008Time of Sighting: 5:26 PM to 6:09 PSTDate Sighting Reported: November 16, 2008 Duration of Sighting: 43 Minutes Location of Sighting: Ladner, British Columbia, Canada (See Map) Latitude: 49.06 Degrees North Longitude: 123.11 Degrees West Number of Witnesses: OneWeather: A Few Clouds Were Observed at 2,500 Feet and 5,500 Feet. Skies Were Mostly Cloudy (Broken Clouds) at 15,000 Feet and 20,000 Feet. Visibility Was 20 Miles. Winds Were From the Southwest at 4 MPH. Description: I was biking near Ladner, B.C. tonight and stopped when I saw some strange moving lights in the sky to the east. I had my GPS with me. My sighting took place at N 49° 03.801 W 123° 06.594 and lasted from 5:26pm PST to 6:09 PST. At approximately 70° true, a group of about 6 lights were moving smoothly yet erratically in the sky. It was impossible to tell how large or how far away they were, but they didn't move more than about 30° above the horizon, or more than about 40° on either side of 70° True from my perspective. These lights were an orange street lamp color. I couldn't detect their size or any other definition. Their movement was fascinating. They would group together in pairs (although clearly not together as one solid object because their orientation to each other shifted slightly), and soar through the sky before dispersing or fading out. Then they would reappear in groups of 4 at times and do the same thing. All the while, other lights moved around them in different directions and speeds. The lights continuously changed speed and direction, and always slowly disappeared after a while only to reappear again in a different spot. Their general motion was in circles parallel to the ground, but at times they would also float slowly on an uneven course upward before disappearing. It seemed that the disappearing might have been due to the change of orientation. This bearing of 70° true is directly in line with the Boundary Bay Airport, but I can't imagine these were any kind of aircraft that would take off from a commercial airport. The only thing that made sense to me was that they could have been model airplanes, although I thought it was a strange time to fly model airplanes an hour after sunset. I am completely positive these were not satellites, fireworks or shooting stars, and I'm pretty sure that airplanes and helicopters cannot do such maneuvers as I saw tonight. I had my HD camcorder with me and was able to take a few minutes of video of the lights which I'll upload soon.________________________________________________

Statement with video: Prosperity, Missouri, once a thriving mining town, lived up to its name from 1902 until about 1917. In 1907, the two-story Prosperity School was built in the heart of the Tri-state mining district, which had churches, saloons, general stores, hotels, and now a fine, large school of red brick and Carthage stone. It's a very active site filled with many spirits. Some are even children! After asking the spirits to appear I got this on my camcorder. I was blown away. We have this slowed down so you can see the lttle guy better!________________________________________________
More Information on the Chicoana, Argentina Crop Formations
Posted: 20 Nov 2008 09:42 AM CST
Residents of the town of Metán also witnessed strange lights with zigzagging movements at low altitude late into the night. These lights disappear into the fields, and occurred at the same time as the Chicoana events. What is remarkable is that the predominant direction of movement is toward the NW, which dovetails with the statements made by the people of Chicoana, who see the movements predominantly toward the SE. In both cases, the trajectory suggests the Cabra Corral Resevoir, an immense body of water. The reason that I’m highlighting this fact is because the disappearance of large quantities of water is often associated with this phenomenon.I visited a tobacco plantation to the north of Chicoana, where three workers witnessed flying object manifestations. They are probably the best-qualified witnesses to the phenomenon, as they had to work nights in the field the week that the marks occurred and the following week as well. This is a summary of my conversation with them: They are well aware of the stars and planets at various times of year by virtue of having to work at night. The lights they saw could not be mistaken for stars, planets, shooting stars, airplanes or satellites, which are also visible at night. The lights they saw at night were several. They lit up the fields in the darkness with such intensity that it was possible to see the crops; a powerful beam of light [issued from them], casting light in the same way as fishermen’s’ flashlights. They compared the size of the object to that of the Sun at that time of day (4 p.m.) and they also gyrated. At a given moment, when the larger object remained motionless over the mountain, they saw something like “lightning rays”, blue in color, and emerge from the mountain toward the object. When the lights moved toward them, they estimated that they were some 100 meters overhead. They did not notice any reactions in the local animals, as there were none nearby.Another object was also seen toward the southeast, in the distance, over the mountains of Sierra Metán, behind which the city of the same name is located. They had the impression that these objects were in communication, as the lights would rise and descend in unison (the Cabra Corral Reservoir is located between Chicoana and Metán, separated from Metán by the Sierra Metán).The three workers assured me that they didn’t believe in “flying saucers” and had never warmed to the subject. But ever since their sighting, the think that what they saw was neither a natural phenomenon nor anything known to them up to that point. On the third night of the sightings, given that the plantation’s owner did not believe them, one of the workers ran over to wake him up and bring him to the fields. The owner remained incredulous, arguing that the lights could be stars, but moments later the light began to move and headed toward them, causing a commotion. Speaking to the plantation’s owner, he echoed the words of his employees. He had never believed in such “tales” but what he saw was new to him.________________________________________________
The 30 Greatest Conspiracy Theories
Posted: 20 Nov 2008 09:29 AM CST
By H. E. Hunt - Telegraph.co.ukFrom the assassination of John F Kennedy to the death of Diana, Princess of Wales. From Roswell, New Mexico, to Nasa's moon landings. From the bloodline of Christ to the death of Elvis Presley. Every major event of the last 2,000 years has prompted a conspiracy theory and here we examine those with the biggest followings and the most longevity.1. September 11, 2001 Thanks to the power of the web and live broadcasts on television, the conspiracy theories surrounding the events of 9/11 - when terrorists attacked the World Trade Centre in New York and the Pentagon in Washington - have surpassed those of Roswell and JFK in traction. Despite repeated claims by al-Qaeda that it planned, organised and orchestrated the attacks, several official and unofficial investigations into the collapse of the Twin Towers which concluded that structural failure was responsible and footage of the events themselves, the conspiracy theories continue to grow in strength. At the milder end of the spectrum are the theorists who believe that the US government had prior warning of the attacks but did not do enough to stop them. Others believe that the Bush administration deliberately turned a blind eye to those warnings because it wanted a pretext to launch wars in the Middle East to usher in another century of American hegemony. A large group of people - collectively called the 9/11 Truth Movement - cite evidence that an airliner did not hit the Pentagon and that the World Trade Centre could not have been brought down by airliner impacts and burning aviation fuel alone. This final group points to video evidence which they claim shows puffs of smoke - so-called demoliton squibs - emerging from the Twin Towers at levels far below the aircraft impact zones and prior to the collapses. They also believe that, on the day itself, the US air force was deliberately stood down or sent on exercises to prevent intervention that could have saved the lives of nearly 3,000 people. Many witnesses - including firemen, policemen and people who were inside the towers at the time - claim to have heard explosions below the aircraft impacts (including in basement levels) and before both the collapses and the attacks themselves. As with the assassination of JFK, the official inquiry into the events - the 9/11 Commission Report - is widely derided by the conspiracy community and held up as further evidence that 9/11 was an “inside job”. Scientific journals have consistently rejected these hypotheses. 2. The Assassination Of John F Kennedy The 35th President of the United States was shot on Friday, November 22, 1963, in Dallas, Texas at 12.30pm . He was fatally wounded by gunshots while riding with his wife - Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy - in a motorcade. The ten-month investigation of the Warren Commission of 1963 to 1964, the United States House Select Committee on Assassinations (HSCA) of 1976 to 1979, and other government investigations concluded that the President had been assassinated by Lee Harvey Oswald - who was himself shot dead by Jack Ruby while in police custody. But doubts about the official explanation and the conclusion that Oswald was the lone gunman firing from the Texas Book Depository overlooking Dealey Plaza where Kennedy was hit surfaced soon after the commission report. Footage of the motorcade taken by Abraham Zapruder on 8mm film supported the growing belief that at least four shots were fired - not the three that the Warren Commission claimed. The moments of impact recorded on the film also suggested that at least one of the shots came from a completely different direction to those supposedly fired by Oswald - evidence backed up by testimony of several eye witnesses. Many believed that several shots were fired by gunmen hiding behind a picket fence on a grassy knoll overlooking the plaza. The assassination is still the subject of widespread speculation and has spawned numerous conspiracy theories, though none of these has been proven. In 1979, the House Select Committee on Assassinations (HSCA) found both the original FBI investigation and the Warren Commission Report to be seriously flawed. The HSCA also concluded that there were at least four shots fired and that it was probable that a conspiracy existed. However, later studies, including one by the National Academy of Sciences, have called into question the accuracy of the evidence used by the HSCA to support its finding of four shots. 3. A Flying Saucer Crashed At Roswell In 1947 The event that kick-started more than a half century of conspiracy theories surrounding unidentified flying objects (UFOs). Something did crash at Roswell, New Mexico, sometime before July 7, 1947 and - at first - the US authorities stated explicitly that this was a flying saucer or disk - as shown by the splash story on that day’s Roswell Daily Record, pictured. Numerous witnesses reported seeing metallic debris scattered over a wide area and at least one reported seeing a blazing craft crossing the sky shortly before it crashed. In recent years, witnesses have added significant new details, including claims of a large military operation dedicated to recovering alien craft and aliens themselves, at as many as 11 crash sites, and alleged witness intimidation. In 1989, former mortician Glenn Dennis claimed that he was involved in alien autopsies which were carried out at the Roswell air force base. The conspiracy theory has been fanned by the US military repeatedly changing its story. Within hours of the army telling reporters that it had recovered a crashed saucer, senior officers insisted that the only thing that had fallen from the sky had been a weather balloon. A report by the Office of the Secretary of the Air Force released in 1995, concluded that the reported recovered material in 1947 was likely debris from a secret government program called Project Mogul, which involved high altitude balloons meant to detect sound waves generated by Soviet atom bomb tests and ballistic missiles. A second report, released in 1997, concluded that reports of alien bodies were likely a combination of innocently transformed memories of military accidents involving injured or killed personnel, and the recovery of anthropomorphic dummies in military programs like Project High Dive conducted in the 1950s. Since the late 1990s the debate about Roswell has polarised with several former pro-UFO researchers concluding that the craft was, indeed, part of a US military project and that it was, most likely, some sort of weather balloon. But further evidence has emerged - notably a signed affidavit by Walter Haut, the Roswell Army Air Field public affairs officer who had drafted the initial press release on July 8, 1947. Haut says in the affidavit -signed in 2002 - that he saw alien corpses and a craft and that he had been involved in a military cover up. Haut died in 2005. 4. Nasa Faked The Moon Landings People who think that the Apollo moon landings were not all that they seemed at the time believe that Nasa faked some or all of the landings. Some of the theories surrounding this subject are that the Apollo astronauts did not land on the Moon; Nasa and possibly others intentionally deceived the public into believing the landings did occur by manufacturing, destroying, or tampering with evidence, including photos, telemetry tapes, transmissions, and rock samples; and that Nasa and possibly others continue to actively participate in the conspiracy to this day. Those who think that Nasa faked some or all of the landings base their theories on photographs from the lunar surface which they claim show camera crosshairs partially behind rocks, a flag planted by Buzz Aldrin moving in a strange way, the lack of stars over the lunar landscape and shadows falling in different direction. Many commentators have published detailed rebuttals to the hoax claims, and these theories have been generally discounted but belief in them - particularly on the web - persists. 5. The Illuminati And The New World Order A conspiracy in which powerful and secretive groups (the Illuminati, the Bilderberg Group and other shadowy cabals) are plotting to rule mankind with a single world government. Many historical events are said to have been engineered by these groups with one goal - the New World Order (NWO). The groups use political finance, social engineering, mind control, and fear-based propaganda to achieve their aims. Signs of the NWO are said to be the pyramid on the reverse of the Great Seal of the United States, inset, strange and disturbing murals at Denver International Airport, pictured, and pentagrams in city plans. International organisations such as the World Bank, the IMF, the European Union, the United Nations, and Nato are listed as founding organisations of the New World Order. 6. The Jesus Conspiracy The theory that launched a blockbusting novel (The Da Vinci Code), a film of the same name and a plagiarism battle in the courts (with the authors of the Holy Blood and holy grail). Those who believe in this - and they seem to number in their millions - think that Jesus married Mary Magdalene, had one or more children, and that those children or their descendants emigrated to southern France. Once there, they intermarried with the noble families that would eventually become the Merovingian dynasty, whose special claim to the throne of France is championed today by a secret society called the Priory of Sion. 7. Princess Diana Was Murdered Why won’t this one go away? Despite an official inquiry that found no evidence of a plot by MI6 or any other entity to murder the princess and Dodi Fayed in 1997, fevered speculation continues. The theory is that rogue elements in the British secret service decided that Diana’s relationship with Fayed was a threat to the monarchy and, therefore, to the British state. A plot was hatched in which a white Fiat Uno carrying agents was sent to blind and disorientate driver Henri Paul as he sped through the Paris underpass pursued by photographers. Later, Paul’s blood was switched with a sample of somebody who had drunk a lot of alcohol. The trouble with the theory? Not a shred of evidence exists to support it. 8. Elvis Presley Faked His Own Death What can we say? A persistent belief is that “the King” did not die in 1977. Many fans persist in claiming he is still alive, that he went into hiding for various reasons. This claim is allegedly backed up by thousands of so-called sightings. The main reason given in support of the belief that Presley faked his death is that, on his grave, his middle name Aron is spelt as Aaron. But “Aaron” is actually the genuine middle name for Presley. Apparently, either Presley or his parents tried to change the name to “Aron” to make it more similar to Presley’s stillborn twin, Jesse Garon Presley. Two tabloid newspapers ran articles covering the continuing “life” of Presley after his death, in great detail, including a broken leg from a motorcycle accident, all the way up to his purported “real death” in the mid 1990s. 9. Operation Northwoods A genuine conspiracy involving a plan by the Joint Chiefs of Staff to launch a fake Cuban terror campaign on American soil to persuade the US public to support an invasion against Castro. The plan involved bombings and the simultaneous hijacking and blowing up of American airliners. The operation was quashed by President Kennedy leading many to speculate that it was linked to his assassination a year later. The plan has also been linked by theorists who believe that the September 11, 2001 attacks were a so-called “inside job” because of the use of airliners. 10. MK-ULTRA The code name for a covert mind-control and chemical interrogation research programme, run by the Office of Scientific Intelligence. The programme began in the early 1950s, continuing at least through the late 1960s, using US citizens as test subjects. Project MK-ULTRA was brought first to wide public attention in 1975 by Congress and by the Rockefeller Commission. Investigative efforts were hampered by the fact that CIA Director Richard Helms ordered all MK-ULTRA files destroyed in 1973. Although the CIA insisted that MK-ULTRA-type experiments were abandoned, CIA veteran Victor Marchetti has stated in various interviews that the agency routinely conducts disinformation campaigns and that CIA mind control research continued. In a 1977 interview, Marchetti specifically called the CIA claim that MK-ULTRA was abandoned a “cover story”. Conspiracy theorists believe that MK-ULTRA was behind many so-called black-ops: Lawrence Teeter, the attorney for Sirhan Sirhan, the man convicted of the assassination of Robert Kennedy, pictured, believed Sirhan was operating under MK-ULTRA mind control techniques. Furthermore, Jonestown, the location in Guyana where members of the Jim Jones cult and Peoples Temple committed mass suicide, was thought to be a test site for MK-ULTRA medical experiments. 11. North American Union The North American Union (NAU) is a theoretical regional union of Canada, Mexico and the United States similar in structure to the European Union, sometimes including a common currency called the amero. Theorists who believe that the three countries are planning for this believe that it is part of a global conspiracy to set up something called the New World Order (NWO). Officials from all three nations have repeatedly denied that there are plans to create a NAU although the idea has been proposed in academic circles, either as a union or as a North American community as proposed by the Independent Task Force on North America. The amero received support in 1999 from Canadian economist Herbert Grubel, a senior fellow of the Fraser Institute think-tank, in a book entitled The Case for the Amero. Robert Pastor, vice-chairman of the Independent Task Force on North America, supported Grubel’s conclusions in his 2001 book Toward a North American Community, stating that: “In the long term, the amero is in the best interests of all three countries.” 12. Shakespeare Was Somebody Else Who really was the English language’s greatest writer? Among the numerous alternative candidates that have been proposed Francis Bacon, Christopher Marlowe, William Stanley (6th Earl of Derby) and Edward de Vere (17th Earl of Oxford), are the most popular. Theorists believe there is a lack of evidence proving that the actor and businessman sometimes known as Shaksper of Stratford was responsible for the body of works that bear his name. Very little biographical information exists about Shakespeare. 13. The Disappearance Of Shergar On February 8, 1983, a group of men wearing balaclavas and armed with guns turned up at the Ballymany Stud Farm in Co Kildare, Ireland and took a hostage – Jim Fitzgerald, the stud’s head groom. “We’ve come for Shergar,” they said. “We want £2m for him.” Shergar was arguably the greatest racehorse to have ever lived. But 25 years after he was kidnapped from Ballymany the mystery of exactly what happened to him after he was snatched that night still lingers. The theories are numerous with the IRA, Colonel Gadaffi and the Mafia featuring among the most lurid. One story suggests that the IRA kidnapped the horse for Gadaffi in return for weapons. Another suggests that the New Orleans mafia took him. 14. Paul Is Dead “Paul is dead” is an urban legend alleging that Paul McCartney died in a car crash 1966 and was replaced by a look-alike and sound-alike. “Evidence” for McCartney’s death consists of “clues” found among the Beatles’ many recordings. Hundreds have been cited at various times by various people. They include statements allegedly heard when a song is played backwards, symbolism found in obscure lyrics, and ambiguous imagery on album covers. A few of them are well known, such as the fact that McCartney is the only barefooted Beatle and is out of step with the others on the cover of Abbey Road, pictured. 15. The July 7, 2005 Tube Bombings One of the supposed mysteries surrounding the 7/7 attacks is this image, used by several news outlets, of the bombers entering Luton station on their way to London at around 7.20am on July 7. Theorists claim this image is fake because the man in the white hat - believed to be Mohammed Sidique Khan - has been electronically placed on the picture after it was taken. They claim that it shows his arm behind a railing while the rest of his body is in front and that the bar behind his head goes across and in front of his face. Theorists postulate, among other things, that the bombs which went off on the Tube trains were actually under the floors of the vehicles and not in the alleged plotters’ back packs. 16. The Moscow Apartment Bombings Former GRU officer Aleksey Galkin and former FSB officer the late Alexander Litvinenko (who was killed with Polonium-210 in London in November 2006) and other whistle-blowers from the Russian government and security services have asserted that the 1999 Russian apartment bombings were operations perpetrated by the FSB, the successor to the KGB, to justify the second Russian war against Chechnya. 17. Black Helicopters The concept became popular in the American militia movement, and in associated political circles, in the 1990s as an alleged symbol and warning sign of a military takeover of part or all of the United States. Rumours would circulate that, for instance, the United Nations patrolled the US with black helicopters, or that federal agents used black helicopters to enforce wildlife laws. In Britain, a similar conspiracy theory known as “phantom helicopters” has been reported since the mid 1970s. This concept relates phantom helicopters to UFOs and alien invasion rather than to martial law. 18. Harold Wilson Was A Soviet Agent Soviet defector Anatoliy Golitsyn is thought to have claimed that Wilson was a KGB spy. He further claimed that Hugh Gaitskell was assassinated by the KGB so that he could be replaced as Labour leader by Harold Wilson. Furthermore, former MI5 officer Peter Wright claimed in his memoirs - Spycatcher - that he had been told that Wilson was a Soviet agent. MI5 repeatedly investigated Wilson over the course of several years before conclusively deciding that he had no relationship with the KGB. On the BBC TV programme, The Plot Against Harold Wilson, broadcast in 2006, it was claimed that the military was on the point of launching a coup d’état against Wilson in 1974. Wilson himself told the BBC that he feared he was being undermined by MI5 in the late 1960s after devaluation of sterling and again in 1974 after he narrowly won an election against Edward Heath. 19. The Protocols Of The Elders Of Zion Despite being utterly discredited for at least 100 years, belief in this document has proved remarkably resilient on the internet. The text takes the form of an instruction manual to a new member of the “elders,” describing how they will run the world through control of the media and finance, and replace the traditional social order with one based on mass manipulation. Scholars generally agree that the Okhrana, the secret police of the Russian Empire, fabricated the text in the late 1890s or early 1900s but belief in it still persists - particularly in the Middle East. 20. The Peak Oil Conspiracy Peak oil (a theory in itself) is the supposed peak of oil production during and after which demand for oil outstrips supply sending prices through the roof. The peak oil conspiracy theorists believe that peak oil is a fraud concocted by the oil industries to increase prices amid concerns about future supplies. The oil industry is aware of vast reserves of untapped oil, but does not utilise them in order to maintain the illusion of scarcity, they claim. 21. Pearl Harbor Was Allowed To Happen Theorists believe that President Franklin Roosevelt provoked the Japanese attack on the US naval base in Hawaii in December 1942, knew about it in advance and covered up his failure to warn his fleet commanders. He apparently needed the attack to provoke Hitler into declaring war on the US because the American public and Congress were overwhelmingly against entering the war in Europe. Theorists believe that the US was warned by the governments of Britain, the Netherlands, Australia, Peru, Korea and the Soviet Union that a surprise attack on Pearl Harbor was coming and that, furthermore, the Americans had intercepted and broken all the important Japanese codes in the run up to the attack. 22. The Philadelphia Experiment Popularised by the Charles Berlitz novel of the same name, conspiracy theorists believe that during an experiment at the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard in October 1943, the US Navy destroyer Eldridge was rendered invisible. According to some accounts, the scientists on the experiment found a way to bend light around an object but that the experiment went wrong and Eldridge was transported through space and time, reappearing at sea. Several sailors, it is said, were badly hurt when the experiment went wrong and some were melded into the ship’s superstructure. The US Navy has denied that the experiment ever took place. 23. Pan Am Flight 103 Pan Am Flight 103 was Pan American’s third daily scheduled transatlantic flight from Heathrow to New York John F. Kennedy International Airport. On December 21, 1988, the aircraft flying this route - a Boeing 747 - was destroyed by a bomb, killing all 259 people on board and 11 people on the ground. The remains landed around Lockerbie in southern Scotland. A popular theory for which no evidence has been produced suggests that the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) had set up a protected drug route from Europe to the United States - allegedly called Operation Corea - which allowed Syrian drug dealers to ship heroin to the US using Pan Am flights. The CIA allegedly protected the suitcases containing the drugs and made sure they were not searched. On the day of the bombing, terrorists exchanged suitcases: one with drugs for one with a bomb. Another version of this theory is that the CIA knew in advance this exchange would take place, but let it happen anyway, because the protected drugs route was a rogue operation, and the American intelligence officers on the flight had found out about it, and were on their way to Washington to tell their superiors. 24. Fluoridation Fluoride is commonly added to drinking water as a way to reduce tooth decay. However, there has been some evidence that there could be some harmful side effects from fluoride and conspiracy theorists believe that this information is known and recognised by those responsible for adding the fluoride, but that they continue the practice regardless. Drug companies have been targeted as possible beneficiaries, as they will profit from a population with ill-health. Another motive is that fluoride lowers mental abilities thereby “dumbing down” the entire population. 25. The 2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami A popular theory in the Muslim world is that the tsunami could have been caused by an Indian nuclear experiment in which Israeli and American nuclear experts participated. Several newspapers in Egypt and the Middle East alleged that India, in its heated nuclear race with Pakistan, has acquired sophisticated nuclear technology from the US and Israel, both of which “showed readiness to co-operate with India in experiments to exterminate humankind,” beginning with the heavily populated Muslim regions of southeast Asia, where the bulk of casualties took place. 26. Plastic Coffins And Concentration Camps Just outside Atlanta, Georgia, beside a major road are approximately 500,000 plastic coffins. Stacked neatly and in full view, the coffins are allegedly owned by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (Fema). Conspiracy theorists believe that Fema has also set up several concentration camps in the US in preparation for the imposition of a state of martial law and the killing of millions of Americans. They suggest that the financial crisis will be used to justify the imposition of a police state. 27. HAARP More than 200 miles east of Anchorage, Alaska, is the Pentagon’s High-frequency Active Auroral Research Program, officially an enormous experiment to heat the ionosphere with radio waves. But conspiracy theorists believe the project is a weapon to bring down aircraft and missiles by lifting sections of the atmosphere, cause earthquakes or even a huge weather modification machine. 28. The Aids Virus Was Created In A Laboratory Based on the theories of Dr William Campbell Douglass, many believe that that HIV was genetically engineered in 1974 by the World Health Organisation. Dr Douglass believed that it was a cold-blooded attempt to create a killer virus which was then used in a successful experiment in Africa. Others have claimed that it was created by the CIA or the KGB as a means to reduce world population. 29. Global Warming Is A Hoax Some climate change doubters believe that man-made global warming is a conspiracy designed to soften up the world’s population to higher taxation, controls on lifestyle and more authoritarian government. These sceptics cite a fall in global temperatures since last year and a levelling off in the rise in temperature since 1998 as evidence. 30. Chemtrails Chemtrail conspiracy theorists believe that some contrails, which consist of ice crystals or water vapor condensed behind aircraft, actually result from chemicals or biological agents being deliberately sprayed at high altitude for some undisclosed purpose. The staple of right-wing radio shows in the US, there is fevered speculation that the chemicals being sprayed are part of a wider plot that involves the so-called New World Order and is being directed by shadowy forces within the government. The existence of chemtrails has been repeatedly denied by federal agencies and scientists.________________________________________________

Police Helicopter Reports Encounter With UFO Near Birmingham, UK, Airport
Posted: 21 Nov 2008 07:23 PM CST
A British police helicopter pilot and two police observers reported they nearly collided with an unidentified flying object over Birmingham, England. The pilot and the observers aboard the copter told the Airprox Board -- the body charged with recording such close calls and reporting them to military and air traffic control authorities -- that the aircraft had to swerve to avoid a collision with the object at an altitude of about 1,500 feet, The Daily Mail reported Friday. The trio described the object as a small aircraft with continuous blue-green lights. They said the object came as close as 330 feet from the helicopter and the lights appeared to circle the chopper before flying away."As far as the pilot and the crew were concerned, nothing was picked up on Birmingham Airport radar and the object was probably a radio-controlled model aircraft. The helicopter was conducting a search at the time and was flying slowly at low-level," a West Midlands police spokesman said. However, the British Model Flying Association said the object was flying at too high an altitude to be a miniature remote-controlled craft. The Airprox Board report refers to the incident as "an apparent conflict with an unidentified aircraft displaying non-standard lights."________________________________________________
Videos: Meteor May Have Crashed in Alberta, Canada
Posted: 21 Nov 2008 10:13 AM CST
A bright light lit up the sky around 5:30 MT Thursday evening in Western Canada, with people reporting sightings in Alberta and Saskatchewan.People telephoned the CBC newsrooms in Edmonton and Calgary to talk about what they saw."It was a really big flash, lit up the sky, and there was this huge, flaming fireball falling from the sky," said Rowyn Windsor, 12, who lives on the Canadian Forces base in Cold Lake, Alta., about 350 kilometres northeast of Edmonton."This huge light in our kitchen window lit up our whole kitchen," said Sabrina Schneider, who lives just outside Lloydminster on the Saskatchewan-Alberta border. "It kinda flashed a couple of times. It was really bright. It was a different light than lightning."We weren't really sure what happened ... got up to look out the window, and all of a sudden, we heard this rumbling."Schneider said her sister saw the meteor while she was driving past North Battleford, Sask.Torey Van Vam was driving north from Redcliff, Alta., outside Medicine Hat when he saw a bright white streak."As it got closer to the ground, it was more visible as a ball of white light with green around it. And as it got really close to the ground, it turned kind of orange, and I'm pretty sure it went straight to the ground," he said.Bev Ully, who lives on a farm near Unity, Sask., was watching TV when she saw a light through her west-facing living room window."It was just like there were headlights right outside the window and that something was moving. It wasn't just one big, bright flash. It was several flashes," she said.Ully said her daughter in Brooks, in central Alberta, had told her she had seen the light as well. The fireball was also visible in Edmonton. Kim Wingrove was driving in the city's west end when he saw something in the sky."I saw this large orb shoot across in an east-southeast direction, on a very steady trajectory," he said. "It was very, very big. And I've seen a lot of shooting stars from all the world as I travelled, but I've never seen one so large. It was very bright yellow, with hints of green in it. It stayed in the air ... for about two to two and a half seconds."Alister Ling, an Edmonton-area amateur astronomer who is a member of the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada, recorded the fireball using equipment from Alan Hildebrand, a meteorite researcher at the University of Calgary."When it flares out on the tape, you can see there's several of these multiple flashes, and that's when it's probably partly blowing up, which is also a really good indicator … that there's multiple stones that have come down," he said. He said anyone who sees a fireball with their own eyes has a hard time judging where it came down, because fireballs stop glowing when they are 50 kilometres above the earth.Ling said he will be consulting with other astronomers in Alberta, who will look at tapes from a local network of cameras and assess eyewitness reports to try and figure out where the fireball may have landed.Although its early in the process, he thinks it may have fallen somewhere in central Alberta, and there could be search parties out looking for chunks as early as this weekend."Who knows," he said. "We might be really, really lucky."________________________________________________
Mexican Air Crew Reports Encounter With 'Teardrop' Shaped UFO
Posted: 21 Nov 2008 10:04 AM CST
Information is filtering through regarding a possible encounter with a UFO that occurred on the 27th of October 2008 in the skies over Mexico City. The crew of a Boeing 737-200 airplane were performing a descent into Mexico City on a flight from Los Cabos, a municipality located at the southern tip of Mexico's Baja California Peninsula in the state of Baja California Sur, when they noticed a slow moving object on their left hand side. The object was described as having a ‘elongated teardrop’ shape with a frontal diameter of 8 meters. It was said to be bluish in color and slightly glowing. The skies were clear that day and the weather conditions were described as being good. The names of the crew members and the airline have not been disclosed. It is reported that some crew members were somewhat frightened by the encounter and described the craft as having 'other-worldly' qualities. A few passengers were said to have complained of headaches shortly after landing.Mexico City and Mexico in general has been the scene of numerous alleged UFO sightings over the past two decades and is by all accounts regarded as a UFO hotspot. In 2004 the Mexican defense force acknowledged the UFO phenomenon after a high level incident involving a number of military craft and unidentified craft that were both seen and picked up by radar. Thus, Mexico is regarded by some as the first nation to publicly acknowledge UFO’s as a reality.________________________________________________
Woman Calls Radio Show With Horrid Confession of Cannibalism
Posted: 21 Nov 2008 09:36 AM CST
A radio presenter was stunned when he answered a call from a listener who admitted she was once an unwitting cannibal.DJ Graham Mack, from Teesside-based station TFM, had issued a challenge to listeners to find the most unusual thing they had eaten. He had come up with the idea for Monday's show to coincide with the return of TV's I'm A Celebrity .. Get Me Out Of Here!, which started the previous evening. He took a flood of calls giving the type of exotic cuisine he had expected, including snails, sea urchins, monkey brains and dog and horse. But when he received a call from a woman who once said she had eaten human flesh, he did not know what to say. The caller, only known as Anthea, said: "I've eaten human being." Mr Mack slowly replied: "Oh my goodness. Right, all bets are off. You can't beat that. How come you were a cannibal?" She answered: "It was when I was a child when I lived in Africa. We always went to the same butcher and then suddenly - we were there a couple of years - the meat started to get so much better. "It was only when we moved back to England a couple of years later that we realised that the butcher had been arrested because he farmed little black girls." There were gasps in the studio. Anthea added: "We didn't know at the time. According to my mum it was very delicious but not very nice (inaudible)." The DJ replied: "So what do you think it was? You thought it was beef?" She said: "My mum said yes, she was just buying mince." There were further gasps before someone in the background said: "That's horrific." Mr Mack added: "You are the winner this morning. Goodness me. I don't even know what to say. I had no idea we would get this call this morning. Wow." Breakfast show producer Matt Bailey said: "The phone topic was 'what have you eaten?'. "We had people ringing up saying they had eaten snails, oysters, Play-Doh and soil, then out of the blue we get Anthea, who says she has eaten humans. "It was one of the strangest calls we have ever had. Graham was taken aback "We were all in shock really at what we were hearing."________________________________________________

'Oswald's Ghost' - A Documentary
Posted: 22 Nov 2008 10:32 AM CST
By Duane Dudek of the Journal SentinelAlthough I mostly get the New Yorker magazine for the cartoons, I read the new issue on Barack Obama from cover to cover. It included two fascinating behind the scenes looks at the mechanics of the campaigns of Obama and John McCain - what worked, what didn't and why - and a long piece by David Remnick on how Obama did not transcend race so much, as personify both sides of his mixed race heritage.Meanwhile on the season finale of Bill Maher's show on HBO, the host pressed P. Diddy, of all people, on the question of Obama's personal safety. And while the question seemed bizarre, presumptuous and discourteous another program "Oswald's Ghost," on the PBS series "American Experience," served as a reminder of how often political assassinations brutalized our national optimism. And the assassination of president John F. Kennedy, occurred 45 years ago tomorrow. "Oswald's Ghost" explored the various conspiracy theories surrounding the assassination.I've long felt the grainy Zapruder footage of the assassination was the most important film ever made, and chronicles not just the death of a president but a loss of innocence that haunts us still. I had a copy of the Zapruder film; it was stolen from my car a few years back. It was sent to met mysteriously by an anonymous reader after a column I wrote about it. And when I taught at UWM, I would show it to students who would gasp all these years later at the "pink mist" of the head shot.Like everything else, the Zapruder film is easy to find on the internet in various versions, some of which isolate camera angles and interpret every frame in an attempt to understand what happened that day.In "Oswald's Ghost" Norman Mailer, who was a long time conspiracy buff, said he finally concluded that it would have been impossible to keep such a conspiracy secret for so long a time, and believed Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone. But most Americans continue to believe that the killing was part of a conspiracy.'Oswald's Ghost' on PBS
Seaham Cafe Owner Fears Serial Killer Mary Ann Cotton Haunts Her Business
Posted: 22 Nov 2008 10:16 AM CST
When Janice Brown decided to open her own business, she was hoping for a warm welcome from customers. But the former nurse believes she and her staff at the Featherbed Rock cafe, Seaham, been visited by a more mysterious guest – the ghost of murderer Mary Ann Cotton.Considered to be Britain's first female serial killer, one-time Seaham resident Cotton was convicted of killing one of her stepsons and is thought to have murdered many more.Janice and her three staff believe items found in the North Terrace building relate to the killer. They include a baby's shawl, an oven and a postcard.Janice, a 40-year-old mother-of-two, said: "There have been some odd goings-on."Things have been moved that I've left out, there have been bangs in the kitchen and somebody whispered in my ear when I was here."I thought it was my daughter, but she wasn't even in earshot. I couldn't really make out what was said – 'Jane' or 'Joanne'."When we tell people, they are quite fascinated."The cafe, which takes its name from coastal rocks a short distance from the shop, has been contacted by a group interested in the paranormal. Members may visit the business to investigate. The venture has transformed a disused building on the seafront into a popular haunt for its live customers – serving hot and healthy meals, light lunches, cakes and fancies and hot, cold and alcoholic drinks from Tuesday to Sunday. It is also making celebration cakes to order and offers take-outs, using locally sourced produce whenever possible.Mrs Brown, who lives in Sunderland, formerly worked for Sunderland Teaching Primary Care Trust as a health visitor and nurse. She decided to launch the cafe after the death of her brother Leslie Ahmed, 48, when he was involved in a helicopter crash off the coast off Morecambe.Rig engineer Mr Ahmed had been working for Centrica on its gas field and was heading home to South Shields to join his wife and two sons when the accident happened in December 2006.Mrs Brown, mother to daughters Lena, 11, and Sophie, 19, said: "People have seen what job I did before and I changed it because of the death on the family."My brother was in the crash, and after that I decided to do something else."________________________________________________

Cryptomundo: Sasquatch Fingerprint?
Posted: 23 Nov 2008 09:25 AM CST

Click image to enlargeFrom Cryptomundo.com:Is this the first clear evidence of an imprint from the index finger of a Sasquatch? Here is the backstory that I am able to share about this alleged eastern Sasquatch fingerprint:The source of the print is from a North Carolina human family of three, two adults who have one son. They own cats. One of their cats has appeared to have adopted a local Sasquatch family. When the cat insists upon getting out of the house, they know the Sasquatch, a family of four hairy hominids (e.g. Dad, Mom, one teenager, and a young child) are nearby. The human residents set up a feeding location. It is a white lawn chair adjacent to the woods at the edge of the yard. The Sasquatch take the food. Sometimes, it is taken daily. Sometimes, it is not retrieved for a week. The food goes when the cat disappears, which is a good indication in this case.Recently, in May 2008, one of the Sasquatch inspected the human father’s pickup truck, leaving fingerprints and nose prints on the passenger window. A local policeman was called. He collected the fingerprints and palm prints, a full set, but refused to date and sign the card because he “knew what we had” and would not allow his name to get involved with these events. The humans have a video camera at the location. When it is working, the Sasquatch refuse to collect the food. When the camera quits, the Sasquatch resume their activity. Reportedly, the Sasquatch cannot affect the video or computer recording operations, but certainly they seem to know when the system works and when it quits. There reportedly exists two fleeting videos of the Sasquatch and nothing more. One is the arm of the black Sasquatch father, and the other is the hand of the white teenager with pink skin.Permission was granted to post this photograph, and the details given above in an attempt to gain a variety of broad-based expert opinions and forensic analyses of this fingerprint.I have a 4 MB image of the fingerprint, which I will send via email to certified fingerprint and forensic experts. If anyone has access to a law enforcement database to see if it is a match for a known human, that would be helpful, as well. 'Strange' Family Insist Sofa is Haunted
Posted: 24 Nov 2008 09:47 AM CST
Never mind things that go bump in the night - one Strange family reckons it's got a ghost in its sofa.Receptionist Christine Strange, of Bristol, England, says her couch has started making weird noises that are getting louder and louder."One Sunday morning I sat down on it with a cup of tea and suddenly heard this odd squeaky noise," she said."I thought I must be going mad but Poppy, my Yorkshire terrier, heard it too. "She started sniffing around but then got scared and ran away. "It could be an alien for all we know. The noise is getting louder and louder. I’m scared it’s going to come bursting out one evening while we’re watching TV." The Sun reports husband Nigel, 54, refuses to sit on the sofa. But experts say Britain is suffering a bad dose of supernatural apparitions. Nick Pope - described as a former X Files expert for Britain's Ministry of Defence - said: “There are more UFO sightings and more reports of other weird phenomena than I can recall from any previous year.”________________________________________________

In UK, God Plays Second Fiddle to the Supernatural
Posted: 24 Nov 2008 08:50 AM CST
While 54 per cent of people believe in God, 58 per cent believe in the supernatural.Researchers found women were more likely to believe in the supernatural than men, and were more likely to visit a medium. Nearly a quarter of the 3,000 questioned by researchers claimed they had an encounter with the paranormal. Some 37 per cent said aliens and ghosts were the basis of their belief system. The study, to mark the DVD release of X Files: I Want to Believe, conflicts with another report that showed 68.5 per cent of the general UK population described themselves as believers .Files released in October revealed cases of passenger jets nearly colliding with UFOs and reports of alien abduction which have been logged by the Ministry of Defence. The 19 files, disclosed by the National Archives which date from 1986 to 1992, show the extensive records of strange sightings by members of the public and unexplained radar images from air traffic control. In the files, the military admitted the sighting in April 1991 could not be explained, having ruled out a British or American missile. It concluded: "In the absence of any clear evidence which could be used to identify the object, it is our intention to treat this sighting like that of any other Unidentified Flying Object."________________________________________________
Scientists Confident Cure Found For 'Wolfboy'
Posted: 24 Nov 2008 08:02 AM CST
It's not easy being a preteen "wolf boy" — but scientists at Columbia University are confident they've finally found the silver bullet that can cure one.Pruthviraj Patil, 11, suffers from a rare genetic disorder known as hypertrichosis — or "werewolf syndrome" — which causes a thick coat of hair to grow over every inch of his body except his palms and feet.An episode of the TLC series "My Shocking Story" chronicled the efforts of a group of Columbia scientists, including dermatologist Angela Christiano, to develop a cure for Pruthviraj's disorder, which is estimated to afflict fewer than 50 people on the planet.Christiano and her colleagues at Columbia are using injections of testosterone to stem the growth of hair.Ironically, the breakthrough stems from Christiano's research into baldness. A dermatologist and geneticist, she's a pioneer in the field who actually discovered a gene associated with hair loss.Pruthviraj has just started the promising treatment, and it's too early to tell its long-term effects, but the doctors are hopeful it will do the trick________________________________________________

Strange 'Black Egg' UFO With Tail - Captured From Airliner
Posted: 25 Nov 2008 09:00 AM CST
Witness statement:On October 8, 2008 I was flying to Oakland, CA from Chicago, IL. About half way into the flight, or a little more, I was bored and just started staring out the window as we were flying over the Mountain States. I soon realized a black egg flying around the same height as the plane was. It had a ghostly black tail (my first thought was that it was a plane on fire!) and was smoothly flying near the plane, as if it was supposed to be there. Curious, I started taking pictures of it, so I could later zoom in and see it clearer. I remember looking around and not seeing anyone else notice it...and I didn't say anything to anyone. I remember thinking "If this is a dangerous object...the pilot would know, right?" Then I took a video of the Egg as it changed directions to be perpendicular to the plane. Any suspicions of falling asteroids were immediately dismissed...as they can't change directions...or fly. It seemed like the tail got bigger and bigger as the Egg flew away from us. I tried to convince myself that it was some militaristic plane, as we were over one of the Mountain States where they could do testings. But it didn't seem right...I really think that what I saw was unexplainable.________________________________________________

Austin, Texas Planetarium Investigating Unusual UFOs
Posted: 25 Nov 2008 08:24 AM CST
The Austin Planetarium is now investigating some strange sights in the sky - caught on tape. An astronomy expert is calling them unidentified flying objects - UFOs.Some men who live in a Central Austin apartment building say they've seen bizarre things in the sky for months, but lately it's been more frequent. The men recorded their sightings on home video. Experts from the Austin Planetarium visited the apartment building area Friday night to see if they could also spot the objects.Nothing appeared in the sky Friday that would convert any skeptics. But the home video show by Carl Lancaster and Doug McCullough may raise questions in some people's minds."Sometimes they go fast, sometimes they go slow. They make no noise," said McCullough.McCullough and Lancaster aren't sure what they captured on video. The executive director of the Austin Planetarium doesn't know either."It doesn't look like anything I can recognize," said Torvald Hessel.Hessel, an astronomer, says the objects don't move like an airplane."There's a military base close by, so that would be possible, and they are not going to tell you if they're flying something special," said Hessel. But Hessel doesn't think the shapes are weather balloons, comets, or shooting stars."It's an unidentified flying object," said Hessel. "I'm not saying it's little green men at all. It's just something we see flying in the air, and we don't know what it is."The Austin Planetarium plans to try to enhance the video to see if some answers can be identified. The video enhancement will take a few days at least. In the meantime, Lancaster and McCullough say they'll keep watching the sky.Lancaster and McCullough say they first saw the objects back in April, then didn't see them again until September. They tell CBS 42 they've consistently seen the objects since then.________________________________________________
Condemned Prisoners Haunt Historical Courthouse Stairway
Posted: 26 Nov 2008 03:41 PM CST
Something may be amidst in Decatur’s Old Courthouse building, now the home of DeKalb History Center.Workers in the building have reported hearing voices, footsteps, and strange noises, mostly from one of the landmark ’s original staircases behind the guard’s desk.Located in the Decatur Square, site of the “Battle of Decatur” during the Civil War, the Old Courthouse building has stood at its present location since 1898, but was damaged by fire in 1918. Although the building was restored in the 1990s, one stairway and the granite walls outside were left intact. Fifty-nine steps lead up the three-story building into an attic space. Rooms along the stairway were once chambers behind the courtroom. In a 1995 article “The Ghost & Mr. Kitchens,” published in the DeKalb History Center Newsletter, The Times of DeKalb, Vivian Price noted the stairway was the only one used to move prisoners to and from the courtroom. “Members of the cleaning crew and others who have occasion to be in the building late at night have long said they hear footsteps or get a strong feeling they are not alone,” she reported. The observations have captured the attention of employees currently working in the building. “We’ve heard of things happening and people hearing different sounds or voices,” said Leslie Borger, Heritage Education and Rental coordinator, DeKalb History Center. “The five ladies who work in the downstairs offices don’t like being alone down there in the evenings or early mornings.” The reports have been so convincing and unnerving, the DeKalb History Center participated in a paranormal investigation, by the Georgia Research of Apparitions, Sightings and the Paranormal (G.R.A.S.P.). “Our goal is to find logical explanations for illogical occurrences,” said the founder of G.R.A.S.P. Benjamin Carroll. G.R.A.S.P. technicians on the evening of Nov. 15 set up audio recorders, an Electromagnetic Frequency Detector and a laser thermometer. Eight digital cameras were set throughout the building, ready to photograph any apparition, said Carroll, who described the other equipment used by his paranormal investigators. He explained that infrared cameras photograph without light. The EFD determines “if there is an electrical problem or if a ghost is pulling energy out of the air,” Carroll explained. The laser thermometer will determine any sudden temperature shifts. As the team of paranormal investigators divided into four groups of three members, they were cautioned to identify any sounds they may make on the evidence recordings by their own feet, such as accidentally bumping into doors or walls. Only the light of battery-operated flashlights illuminated the nighttime investigation. They were also cautioned by Carroll not to become frightened if they encounter apparitions or feel sick, and most importantly, they were told to keep walkie-talkie radio communications to a minimum and to be respectful of the space they were entering. No one present knew for sure what to expect. “We go to find evidence to disprove or to debunk what’s suspected,” said Christian Tate, deputy director, G.R.A.S.P. “We gather all of our evidence, and then we review it and try to debunk it, taking into consideration the building’s age and the current weather conditions. Most things are going to be debunked, but what’s not explainable is paranormal.” “We want to try to get answers for people who experience things,” Tate continued. “High EMF can cause you to see things, make you paranoid, have hallucinations and even rashes. High EMF can also be spirits. We don’t go in looking for anything. We do our investigations afterwards.”A preliminary walk through the targeted areas started on the first level of the “haunted” stairway, then up to the second floor into the Grand Courtroom and kitchen. The tour came to a halt on the third floor stairway landing. “These are locations of the claims where there have been paranormal activities, such as voices, apparitions in the stairway and sudden temperature drops,” said Tate. “People believe this area is haunted. My whole life I’ve been sensitive to feeling things.Definitely, the stairwell makes me nauseated. That’s how I feel when there is paranormal activity. I felt cold, sick and extremely sad in the stairway."“With the history here, it’s definitely possible something is here,” Tate continued. “People died tragically in this space. A lot of people died so suddenly here, they don’t even realize they’re dead. The main thing is if there is anything here, I want to communicate to them to move on. There must be something else better than a drafty stairway.” No accounts of apparitions or voices were reported immediately following the paranormal investigation. More detailed findings will take G.R.A.S.P. about a week to unravel.________________________________________________
Photo: Hovering Bright White UFO - Florida
Posted: 26 Nov 2008 11:03 AM CST
Witness states:I'm a security officer. I patrol a plaza with various stores. On the time and date as stated, this is what I seen. It was around 11:45 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. During one of my patrols, I happen to see a bright light in the sky towards the west of my location. I didn't think anything of it at the time. I went on continuing to patrol the area. I position myself in a different spot about every 15 to 20 min. and scout the area of the plaza. After positioning myself in a different spot, I happen to notice that the bright light was still in the sky in the same location, the time that had past from the first sight, in the 15 to 20 min. range. This continued until I decided to take a picture of it. At this point, it's not a big deal because I'm thinking it's just a star. I mean, it wasn't moving. About 30 min. to an hour later it was gone. At 3 pm, on my lunch break, I reviewed the photo and started enlarging the photo when as everytime the photo got bigger the detail of a star was not there. The light object started to turn in the shape of a hovering disk. I then noticed small black objects around the bright light object. I then called some friends to tell them I caught something in a photo, I sent them the photo. They told me to contact MUFON. Thank you for you time and please get back to me as to I would like to know what it is.________________________________________________
Unknown 'Entity' Reported in Colonia Elia, Argentina
Posted: 26 Nov 2008 07:51 AM CST
Very early in the morning on October 8, a team from Vision Ovni headed for the locality of Colonia Elia in the Province of Entre Rios to research the manifestations of a strange creature that appears in smallholds and fields, slaying farm animals as well as calves and sheep. This was the information presented to us by the national media, which had taken an interest in the story. It was thanks to this interest that we became aware of the case.Once we had reached the site, 260 kilometers distant along Route 14, we entered Colonia Elia through a dirt road in search of the witnesses. As always, we employed an old but sure-fire strategy to get information. We stopped a man who was riding along on horseback, and he quickly indicated the location of the Restayno family home. This was the family that had witnessed the events involving the unusual creature. The witnesses warmly welcomed us: they showed us evidence of the mutilations, which was among the reasons for our trip, and quickly told us the details of the occurrences.A Summary of the Restayno Family’s ExperiencesManifestations of this entity began a year ago, around September 15, when they found a dead chicken beside the granary, displaying strange marks, and a large print on the ground (see photo of plaster cast, courtesy of Daniel Padilla, researcher). The family’s boys – Matias and Gabriel – fully knowledgeable about the animals that wander the fields, could not recognize the type of marks left on the chicken’s breast and much less identify the footprint found near the dead animal. In an effort to glean further evidence, they found tear marks, made as if by claws, in the back of the henhouse. The following night, early in the morning, the heard noises that prompted them to go outside to see what was happening. Matias, 16, was startled when he saw a bizarre figure scurry away among the vegetation at the back of the house; he described this figure as large (standing at least 1.70 meters) and swift in its getaway. Upon inspecting the henhouse, they found a dead chicken with a large rip in it chest. From that moment on, the family’s boys would not have a normal life again, as each night turned into an episode of chase and attempted capture of this creature, which turned the family’s life into a strange adventure. According to ach family member, the “critter”, as they’ve dubbed it, seems more frightened than them. Whenever the possibility of an encounter exists, the reaction is always the same: flight. All manner of snares have been laid out to trap this creature: otter traps, cages (lent by a neighbor who cares for endangered animals), and they even prepared a trap using old bedding elastic [...]. The creature was captured in each of these, but managed to free itself. The otter trap, however, inflicted serious injury, given that blood traces remained on the trap and on a nearby stone. These samples were taken for analytical purposes.Manifestations have been constant. The witness see fleeting shadows and the entity’s claw-prints, such as the ones it left on a tree, as though it had used the wood to sharpen them, or its footsteps, which are easily seen because the boys, in their urge to secure evidence, began spreading ashes and rice powder around the henhouses. The best was yet to come, and it would happen inside the house at three o’clock in the morning. Matias heard a noise behind the kitchen but within his home. This experience allowed Matias to clearly see the entity that had been engaged in the chicken mutilations. We managed to obtain an oral picture of the creature. We showed him a series of figures from our files, and he identified one of them as very similar, and based on that, he outlined the description of what confronted him that night. He seized his carbine (.22 caliber) and quickly headed to the front of the house. When he drew the curtain of the room that houses his mother’s pantry and the cheese-making churns, he found the “critter” on top of the freezer, clearly intending to grab the churn. Matias’s immediate reaction was to fire, which he did four times without wounding it. The animal jumped through a window, spilling chicken entrails throughout the room.________________________________________________
Weird UFO Photographed Over Wisbech, Cambridgeshire, UK
Posted: 26 Nov 2008 07:43 AM CST
This photo was taken by a 23-year-old man living in the Park Road area of Wisbech just over a week ago.The man, who does not want to be named, caught this unusual light formation in the skies over his home as he watched them silently move over Wisbech with a group of neighbours. The picture was taken between 9pm and 9.30pm last Monday (November 17).He has been left shaken by the 'weird' incident. The man's father said: "He told me all about it, and showed me the pictures he had taken on his phone. I have always sort of believed in UFOs anyway, but this picture certainly looks convincing."My son said there were five or six other people watching with him and none of them could quite believe what they were seeing."None of them thought it was a plane. There was no noise when it moved. My son is still unsure about whether or not it really is a UFO but it is certainly intriguing."________________________________________________

Georgia Woman Sets 'Possessed' Apartment Ablaze
Posted: 27 Nov 2008 08:51 AM CST
A Marietta woman told authorities she set two fires in her apartment because items inside were possessed. Felicia Johnson is charged with arson. This is an unusual arson case. Investigators said Johnson was trying to cleanse her apartment but in doing so she put lives in danger. Investigators said Johnson thought something evil was inside her Marietta apartment She told investigators she tried to burn away the bad spirits."She was extremely upset saying the material was possessed by voodoo spirits and she was trying to cleanse the apartment of the spirits," said Marietta Fire Chief Jackie Gibbs.Investigators said Johnson told them her roommate's possessions were evil. Investigators said she stacked his things -- from clothing to lamps to books -- in two piles. She placed one in the fireplace that spilled out into the living room; the other on the balcony. She then lit them both on fire."She was trying to clear the voodoo from the apartment by burning the personal items," said Gibbs.Investigators said the man who lives in the apartment with her came home and saw the apartment filled with smoke. He told investigators he saw Johnson in the middle of the living room holding a bible.Investigators said the damage to the apartment was minimal but it could have been much worse. "A fire set in two different place within an occupied apartment endangers everyone who lives there," Gibbs said.Gibbs said Johnson was taken to the hospital for a mental evaluation. Despite that, because the damage and putting other lives in jeopardy, she is charged with first degree arson.________________________________________________
Reports of Lights and 'Strange Being' Near Buenos Aires, Argentina
Posted: 27 Nov 2008 08:30 AM CST
On October 4, 2008 we headed out to this area once more, which has recently become the focus of our efforts, given that one report leads us to another and we successively begin to close out a large number of “unusual” episodes reported by qualified local witnesses. Jorge Marron, Daniel Valverdi and Daniel Szauter met at 16:00 hours at Reserva Los Robles in the Municipality of Moreno, Greater Buenos Aires, and we traveled together to the Archeological Museum that is near this reservoir. We were kindly met at that location by Cacho Ferrer, who is a ranger in the area, and his assistant. Second Lieutenant Hector R. Losa was also present – for the past 10 years he has been in charge of monitoring the sluice gates belonging to the Roggero Dam, and his duty post is on the bridge surmounting that structure. After introducing ourselves as investigators of this phenomenon, and showing them some of our fieldwork, they began telling us about the various “unusual” episodes that they have experienced in the area. Ferrer was the first to speak, discussing a strange episode that occurred only months ago and which has repeated itself many times, regardless of the time of day. There is an iron gate at the entrance to the Museum’s premises, and a wire fence that is closed with a chain. A lock never secures the chain – it is merely tied around both of the gate’s doors. One afternoon, while Ferrer and his assistant and 2nd Lieutenant Losa were chatting some twenty meters away from the gate, they could clearly head a sound suggesting that the gate’s chain was being unraveled and opened. This sound caused them to automatically turn around to see who was entering the premises, but they were stunned to see that the gate was closed and the chain was exactly as they had left it minutes earlier. They consulted among themselves to see if they had all heard the same, and the reply was affirmative. They dismissed the possibility that the sound came from elsewhere, as they were very close to the source where the noise came from and there is no other chain that could be the source of the sound. It should be noted that there was no one at the gate who may have tried to open it up. This episode occurred in broad daylight, repeated itself even at night, with the same outcome. The chain was always in place. While we sat down to chat with Lt. Losa in the hall of the cabin occupied by the rangers, he started telling us about a series of episodes that have taken place in the area, some that he has experienced himself. Losa says that once, when he was on sentry duty at night (remember that his duty post is a shack located on the dam itself) and he heard a buzzing noise he had never heard before. While this occurred, he tried adjusting his TV set’s telescopic antenna, since he wasn’t getting a signal, which seemed very odd, as he could always place it in the proper direction to watch TV. Minutes later, he heard an insistent klaxon outside the shack. Running outside, he encountered a police cruiser with two fellow officers who excitedly asked him if he’d seen “the light” that was hovering over the shack. Losa said no, as he was inside with the blinds closed, noting that only minutes earlier he had heard a “buzzing” that lasted some 10 minutes, but with no visible lights. His fellow officers were heading toward the shack, part of their customary patrol, and even though they were at a distance, they noticed a powerful light over the reservoir. [The light] was only slightly smaller than the shack itself, so they hurried over to investigate. During one of the twists and turns on the road, they lost sight of it and couldn’t see it again. If we combine the accounts offered by Losa and his comrades, we get “the light” seen by the drivers, the “buzzing” heard by Losa, and the interference that occurred in the TV set. Upon asking Losa if there had been a power drop within the shack, he said that there is no electricity within and that the TV set and lighting operate on a 12-volt battery.A Strange CreatureA group of fishermen had headed to a rather inaccessible part of the lake formed by the reservoir to do some night fishing. They were equipped to spend the night there, carrying with them a battery and a spotlight to dispel the shadows. While they were readying their fishing tackle, they heard sounds emerging from the shrubs, and they turned around to see what it could be. When they were able to focus on the area where the noise was coming from, they were able to see the outline of a very hairy “man”, possibly some two meters tall with a very large head and luminous eyes. Without succumbing to panic, one fisherman told another to hook up the spotlight to the battery to get a better look a that “thing”, but the man’s nervousness kept him from connecting the spotlight to the battery’s terminals, and by the time the operation was over, the “stranger” had gone. They didn’t wait for it to return: they collected their gear and left immediately. We could associate some of these stories with the case of the Colonia Elia entity, given the similarity between the creature described and the “prankish” behavior, such as the rattling of chains, etc. This is only a part of the stories and eyewitness accounts that these people shared with us, as they are customarily in contact with these situations. We will continue sharing more of these experiences in a later installment.________________________________________________

Frederick, Maryland Museum EVPs Offer Evidence of Haunting
Posted: 28 Nov 2008 08:47 AM CST
Recordings of disembodied voices and a number of eerie personal experiences are enough for the Mason Dixon Paranormal Society to conclude that the Schifferstadt Architectural Museum is haunted. After conducting a two-night paranormal investigation nearly three weeks ago, the society met with the museum's staff Monday to reveal its findings.During the investigation, which was open to the public for a fee to benefit the museum, the society collected about 70 hours of digital video recordings, more than two hours of thermal imaging video, and 180 hours of audio. After days of close watching and listening, the group came away with 35 electronic voice phenomena -- believed to be recordings of ghostly voices."It's a very low frequency tone that you cannot hear with the human ear," said Stewart Cornelius, co-founder of Gettysburg, Pa.,-based society. "But for some reason mechanical devices can pick it up."Some EVPs from the Schifferstadt investigation feature clear answers to questions posed by the investigators -- "yes" or "no" from unidentifiable voices.Twice, society recorded a child's voice saying what sounds like "mommy."Other recordings seem to be in German -- fitting because Schifferstadt was originally home to German settlers. Even a few longer phrases were captured, such as a deep, raspy voice saying, "On the wall over there."Although the EVPs were chilling, they are not enough to scare away the Schifferstadt's staff."It doesn't really change things for me, but I already knew what was going on," said Greg Glewwe, who helps with the museum's Spirit Tours. "Even if you do get a little bit of a creepy feeling, there's never been anything negative happen. In the end, there's some stuff that you can't come up with an explanation for."Liz Lipke, Schifferstadt's former director and a self-proclaimed skeptic, thinks the ghostly evidence is more reassuring than anything."I have heard footsteps here myself and I can't explain where they come from. I think that the investigation is a way to capture evidence of what the unexplained is -- maybe make me feel as if other people have heard what I heard, and it's not just my imagination."But to anyone unfamiliar with the paranormal and the strange happenings at Schifferstadt, the society findings may seem outlandish."People come up to me and they say I don't believe it, and that's fine," said Darryl Keller, society co-founder. "You might not believe it and then you can be shown evidence, and that evidence could be taken to the most qualified video expert, and he can say, 'Yes, I can tell you that this film is not tampered with.' And still people won't believe it until it happens to them."Whether someone believes in ghosts, there nothing paranormal about the society's willingness to boost the museum's fundraising efforts by doing the investigation.Christina Murphy is the museum's head gardener. "I want to thank the MDPS," she said, "for their generosity to help support the Schifferstadt." ________________________________________________

Researchers say they have located the world’s oldest stash of marijuana, in a tomb in a remote part of China. The cache of cannabis is about 2,700 years old and was clearly "cultivated for psychoactive purposes," rather than as fibre for clothing or as food, says a research paper in the Journal of Experimental Botany. The 789 grams of dried cannabis was buried alongside a light-haired, blue-eyed Caucasian man, likely a shaman of the Gushi culture, near Turpan in northwestern China. The extremely dry conditions and alkaline soil acted as preservatives, allowing a team of scientists to carefully analyze the stash, which still looked green although it had lost its distinctive odour."To our knowledge, these investigations provide the oldest documentation of cannabis as a pharmacologically active agent," says the newly published paper, whose lead author is American neurologist Dr. Ethan B. Russo.Remnants of ancient cannabis have been found in Egypt and other sites, and the substance has been referred to by authors such as the Greek historian Herodotus. But the tomb stash is the oldest so far that could be thoroughly tested for its properties. The 18 researchers, most of them based in China, subjected the cannabis to a battery of tests, including carbon dating and genetic analysis. Scientists also tried to germinate 100 of the seeds found in the cache, without success. The marijuana was found to have a relatively high content of THC, the main active ingredient in cannabis, but the sample was too old to determine a precise percentage.Researchers also could not determine whether the cannabis was smoked or ingested, as there were no pipes or other clues in the tomb of the shaman, who was about 45 years old.The large cache was contained in a leather basket and in a wooden bowl, and was likely meant to be used by the shaman in the afterlife."This materially is unequivocally cannabis, and no material has previously had this degree of analysis possible," Russo said in an interview from Missoula, Mont."It was common practice in burials to provide materials needed for the afterlife. No hemp or seeds were provided for fabric or food. Rather, cannabis as medicine or for visionary purposes was supplied."The tomb also contained bridles, archery equipment and a harp, confirming the man’s high social standing.Russo is a full-time consultant with GW Pharmaceuticals, which makes Sativex, a cannabis-based medicine approved in Canada for pain linked to multiple sclerosis and cancer. The company operates a cannabis-testing laboratory at a secret location in southern England to monitor crop quality for producing Sativex, and allowed Russo use of the facility for tests on 11 grams of the tomb cannabis.Researchers needed about 10 months to cut red tape barring the transfer of the cannabis to England from China, Russo said. The inter-disciplinary study was published this week by the British-based botany journal, which uses independent reviewers to ensure the accuracy and objectivity of submitted papers. The substance has been found in two of the 500 Gushi tombs excavated so far in northwestern China, indicating that cannabis was either restricted for use by a few individuals or was administered as a medicine to others through shamans, Russo said."It certainly does indicate that cannabis has been used by man for a variety of purposes for thousands of years."Russo, who had a neurology practice for 20 years, has previously published studies examining the history of cannabis."I hope we can avoid some of the political liabilities of the issue," he said, referring to his latest paper. The region of China where the tomb is located, Xinjiang, is considered an original source of many cannabis strains worldwide.
Witch Threatens Curse After UN Disses Nessie
Posted: 29 Nov 2008 09:41 AM CST
The High Priest of the UK's White Witches has threatened to cast a spell which could jeopardise attempts to secure World Heritage status for Loch Ness.An expert from the United Nations maintains the Loch Ness Monster had never been taken seriously and Nessie could scupper chances of securing the much coveted award. But paranormal researcher Kevin Carlyon, who is the self-styled protector of the monster, is amused by the claims that mention of Nessie could bring ridicule to such a bid."Loch Ness without Nessie is like having a cheese sandwich without the cheese," Kevin declared. And he is being backed by another Nessie fan, Loch Ness webcam operator Mikko Takala, who claims disowning Nessie in the bid would be like Lapland declaring Santa Claus doesn't exist.Mr Carlyon in the past has cast spells on the loch to prevent Nessie hunters tracking down the elusive monster. He told the Highland News Group: "This time I don't have to protect Nessie as the fools are doing the damage themselves."In fact if they had their way there would be no monster myth left. Rather than bring more people to the area it would detract from it."Mr Carlyon was responding to comments by United Nations consultant Chris Pound who has completed an initial report on the area's bid to be included on the UK government's shortlist of World Heritage Status nominations for 2012.It is 75 years since the first media reports of a monster in the loch and local tourist operators believe recognition by the UN of the Great Glen's geographical heritage could be the catalyst for an all year-round tourist industry and not just summer tourists on Nessie-hunting missions. The United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organisation decides which countries and landmarks are given the prestigious award. And it is up to the UK Government's department of media culture and sport (DMCS) to make its nominations in four years time.Mr Pound visited the loch earlier this month and said he believes the area's geology and topography, the loch's deepness, landscape and the engineering behind the Caledonian Canal were factors which would find favour with politicians. But of the Nessie story he commented: "It's an issue which is going to have to be managed carefully. The subject of Nessie is world famous but has never been taken quite seriously. When I spoke to a woman in the DMCS about the report I was doing for the area she fell about laughing. A lot of people have heard of the beastie and it's an image presentation issue which has to be addressed."But Mr Carlyon believes without the legend of Nessie the loch is no different from others in Scotland which are far more suited to tourism."This story will send ripples around the world of a negative nature and I honestly think that these so called experts are biting at their own rear ends and will do more harm than good for the area."If it comes to it and people support it I will perform a spell to blow this ludicrous plan out of the water."I am sure that people will choose Nessie rather than a pompous title, which in the long run will not benefit Scotland at all."Mr Takala agrees it would be crazy to make the bid without mention of Nessie."I'm half Finnish and it would be as daft as Lapland saying Santa Claus doesn't exist. Go anywhere in the world ask what they know about Scotland and they will say whisky and Nessie – they won't ever tell you about the topography of Loch Ness," he said."I find it hard to understand why tourist operators are willing to support this bid at the exclusion of Nessie when they know full well it is the monster that brings the visitors here. It could easily backfire on them."________________________________________________

UFO Group Calls on Barack Obama to Release America's X-Files
Posted: 30 Nov 2008 08:36 AM CST
Desperate to see the US emulate the British Government and disclose reported "contact" with UFOs, the enthusiasts have written to Mr Obama to ask that his administration comes clean about the contents of America's "X-Files". They believe they have good prospects of success after public statements of support from both John Podesta, who is running Mr Obama's White House transition team, and Bill Richardson, the Governor of New Mexico - a UFO sighting hotspot - who is expected to secure a cabinet post. In the letter to Mr Obama, the Extraterrestrial Phenomenon Political Action Committee calls on the President-Elect to "end the six-decade truth embargo regarding an extraterrestrial presence engaging the human race". The group wants the incoming president to insist on a "full briefing from your military services and intelligence agencies regarding what they know" and to open congressional hearings "to take testimony from scores of government witnesses who have already come forward with extraordinary evidence and are prepared to testify under oath." The campaigners, who resent their common portrayal as nuts and conspiracy theorists, have high hopes of success due to their inside track with Mr Obama. When he was the White House chief of staff under Bill Clinton, Mr Podesta led a project to declassify 800 million pages of intelligence documents. In a press conference, still available to watch on the YouTube website, Mr Podesta said: "It is time for the government to declassify records that are more than 25 years old and to provide scientists with data that will assist in determining the real nature of this phenomenon." Gov Richardson, a former presidential candidate and fellow UFO aficionado, has written a forward to a book on the so-called Roswell Incident in New Mexico, where campaigners believe an alien spacecraft crash landed near the town of Roswell in 1947 and that the corpses of humanoid aliens have been kept hidden under lock and key by the government. He has called for full disclosure by the Pentagon of what really occurred and reiterated his belief that there had been a "cover-up" during a presidential debate last year. The campaigners, who want the truth "out there", believe that the British Government's decision to declassify thousands of UFO sighting documents this year has made it untenable for the US to maintain its policy of non-disclosure. Only last week a US Air Force pilot, Milton Torres, whose testimony was released from the British archives, appeared on US television explaining how he was ordered to shoot down a large UFO over the UK in 1957 and then silenced by military officials, who told him never to speak of the incident. Stephen Bassett, Executive Director of the Extraterrestrial Phenomenon Political Action Committee, expects to have gathered 40,000 signatures via email and fax by Mr Obama's inauguration day on Jan 20 in support of his calls for openness. He told The Sunday Telegraph: "The truth embargo is now at the end of the line. The release of documents in Britain and France has put huge pressure on the US. It makes the government here look pretty stupid. "I think we are seeing the Democrats moving towards disclosure. John Podesta has outed himself as an enthusiast. He thinks the American public can handle the truth. Bill Richardson thinks there was a cover-up." Mr Bassett also believes that military and intelligence officials have studied the technology of alien spacecraft, material that would help the US develop new energy resources, as Mr Obama wishes, that will lessen US dependency on Middle Eastern oil.________________________________________________
MonsterQuest to Reveal Results of 'Baby Ogopogo' Carcass Discovery
Posted: 30 Nov 2008 07:59 AM CST
From CryptomundoLast month I was contacted by Arlene Gaal, a respected historian and researcher who has written many books on the history of the Okanagan Valley and also the Ogopogo mystery. The American History Channel was coming to Kelowna to film an episode of “MonsterQuest”(a show of which I was already somewhat familiar). They wanted to interview myself and my girlfriend Jessica about our sightings and were interested to see what photographic evidence I had obtained. In Josh Dorsey’s (director) own words my photos were “the most interesting and compelling pieces of evidence” he had yet seen in regards to Ogopogo.I have since had them analyzed by Dr.Edward Bousfield, a biologist and esteemed Cadborosaurus researcher who said that in his professional opinion my photos show a large “Megaserpent” or unknown aquatic animal living in Okanagan Lake.I was one of the few people on the boat during the MonsterQuest expedition and I was the 3rd person on planet Earth to hold and photograph whatever it was they pulled up from a cave near Squally Point.I initially didn’t think it looked very much like a fish but who knows what decomposition can do to a carcass. The headlines are reading “Baby Ogopogo” but we will have to patiently await the DNA testing in Guelph as even my pictures are not clear enough to ascertain what exactly the divers found that day.Sean ViloriaUpcoming on next season’s MonsterQuest, the results of the baby Ogopogo body find will be revealed.I have attached a picture showing the divers with the specimen bag…though for now I had to remove the creature. I do believe that any person on the planet interested in “MonsterQuest” or Cryptozoology would think this worthy of readership…and I would be more than happy to re-write a summary at some point. I was only supposed be a witness interview but they ended up threading my story throughout the whole episode so I would be glad to share my account for the benefit of all those interested.Sean Viloria________________________________________________

Date: November 22, 2008 Time: Approx: 10:00 p.m.Number of witnesses: 2 Number of objects: Initially 7 then 2 Shape of objects: Circular. Weather Conditions: Clear with scattered clouds.Description: Hi There, Got home from watching the Rugby at about 9.50pm. I took my wife and 9 month old baby upstairs to put him in bed. My wife then lay on our bed as our little one didn't want to go down to sleep. So I decided to go and fetch all our bags out of our car. We have a really awesome view from our place as it overlooks Johannesburg. As I went outside something caught my attention and I looked into the sky and there were 7 circular disc shaped objects scattered but pretty close to one another. I have never seen anything like that in my life. Their colours ranged from intense red to orange.I quickly ran inside to call my wife to have a look as I didn't want to believe what I was seeing. When we came outside the objects had vanished but there was still one in the sky. My wife was amazed. At that point we noticed another one of these objects rising in the distance. At that point I ran inside to get my camera to take some film. I managed to get about 40 seconds of footage before they disappeared.I am hoping that I'm not the only person to have witnessed this.________________________________________________

1-Year-Old Saudi Girl Is Pregnant With Her Brother
Posted: 01 Dec 2008 08:42 AM CST
An incredible case was recorded in medical practice. A 1-year-old girl is pregnant, while doctors say this is the first such case in modern medicine. Arab media are now considering if abortion would be considered murder in this case.It turns out that the girl` mother had two embryos while she was pregnant. One of the embryos started developing in the other child`s uterus. Although doctors declared this a unique case, there are several similar cases throughout history. An Indian farmer (36) had the embryo of his twin brother removed. The man sought medical assistance after his swollen stomach started causing breathing problems. Doctors thought a tumour was in question, but they retrieved a human embryo. In 2002, India doctors found a fetus inside a 6-month-old boy. The dead fetus, which was surgically removed, weighed a kilo, while the boy only weighed 6.5 kilos. This anomaly, called an embryo inside an embryo, is rather rare. It happens once in 500,000 pregnancies. The phenomenon always occurs in the early pregnancy stages. As a rule, the fetuses die while still in the mother`s womb. However, there are cases where he fetus survives the entire pregnancy, remains in the host`s body, trapped like a parasite.

Illinois Man Searches For the Supernatural
Posted: 01 Dec 2008 07:55 AM CST
Brian Hendrian is a deer hunter from Shelbyville and, when he gets a spare moment, a stalker of the supernatural. He’s been pursuing things that go bump in the night for the best part of 20 years but, so far, not one demon, let alone many.“There are a lot of demon cases out there,” he explains. “But I think they are fabricated. I’ve never been involved in one myself.”As ghost hunters go, Hendrian isn’t exactly type cast for the part. Quiet, relaxed and unemotional, he sits in his living room full of deer head trophies and doesn’t look the sort to be easily transported to a state of ectoplasmic joy by the prospect of seeing dead people. But he is gripped by a burning curiosity to know the answer to the ultimate question: What happens to us when we die? And while maybe two haunting cases in 10 turn out to be worth his time, he’s experienced enough to become what he describes as a “skeptical believer.”“People getting slapped, pushed around, voices that just come out of thin air, I’ve witnessed things I can’t explain,” says Hendrian, 34. “There is a lot of fraud out there, but not all of it is fraud.”To help sort through the cases, he’s gathered around him a group of likeminded spirits, so to speak. He’s the founder of organizations that include the Shelby Paranormal Research Society, the United States Paranormal Society and the Shelbyville Cryptozoology Research Society. The Cryptozoology folks hunt for “hidden animals,” creatures whose existence is not recognized by science: at least, not yet. Hendrian says there’s a lot of fraud in this area, too, but he believes there is credible evidence for the existence for both an “unknown biped” (Big Foot) and for something large and toothy slinking through the Illinois undergrowth.“We get a lot of black panther reports in Illinois,” he says. “And I believe there is something out there.”When on the trail of ghosts, he starts by a series of gentle e-mail or phone interviews with the person claiming their home or whatever is haunted. If it looks good there, he will follow up with a face-to-face meeting and, eventually, a site visit. He says the best piece of ghost hunter gear yet invented is the thermal imaging camera, which has yielded some cool results for other groups. But they cost many hundreds of dollars, and he can’t afford one. So Hendrian and his colleagues make do with night-vision cameras, recording equipment and healthy doses of patience.“It can get dead boring when nothing happens,” he says. “And you also need a sense of humor.”His wife, Renee, has joined him on many hunts, and while she has experienced strange sounds and the icy presence of something she couldn’t see, so far she’s not been frightened out of her wits. But she says it will take something dramatic and scary to make science stop snickering and take the supernatural seriously.“As technology advances, I think it might be possible to get some pretty definitive proof,” she says. “To maybe actually catch a full apparition on video for everyone to see it, and to where you can see nobody faked it.”In the meantime, it’s back to the hunt for the truth and the more than occasional exposure of the fraudulent. Her husband and two of his fellow enthusiasts — one in Joliet, the other in California — host a weekly Internet radio show which features ironic awards distinguishing particularly blatant supernatural scams. One of the Shelbyville ghost hunter’s favorites is the eBay vendor who claimed to be selling “ghosts in a bottle,” actual spirits banished and sealed in bottles by real live ghostbusters. “And people were actually buying this stuff,” says Hendrian. “It just gets more ridiculous.”________________________________________________
Iowa Church Protests Paranormal Investigation in Nearby Cemetery
Posted: 02 Dec 2008 09:44 AM CST
The forces of nature did not keep three members with Iowa Paranormal away from Oakland cemetery Saturday night, and also not five and 50. The five thrill seekers, none of whom were associated with the paranormal group, waited in the lightly falling snow near the west entrance to the cemetery. The 50 assembled in People's Baptist Church, just a stone's throw west of the cemetery, to pray. The three paranormal investigators — led by group founder Steven Tracy, of Centerville, Patrick Law, of Centerville, and Tony Brozovich, of Numa — arrived at 7 p.m. and started their testing near the west end of the cemetery at the Oakland Cemetery Chapel and receiving vault. They brought a video camera wrapped in plastic to protect it from the falling snow, three voice recorders and an electronic magnetic field detector. The camera can see in pure darkness and the EMF detector can rule our unexplainable events, Tracy said. "We go in looking for the natural causes. We take the scientific approach to it, is what we're doing. We try to rule out all the possibilities," Tracy said. "That's why we've got all of this equipment. We want to capture evidence." Tracy said he and Law thought they might have seen an unexplainable light near the grave of Hon. Harvey Tannehill and were getting ready to walk to that area of the cemetery to investigate. The light was similar to the one he and others think they might have seen while on the Haunted History Tour held at Oakland Cemetery in October."We witnessed a few strange things that night that we want to capture, try to see if we can get that again," Tracy said, while pointing to a large evergreen where they were standing less than 30 minutes ago and the same type light was seen in the same area near Tannehill's grave. "And down on the far side where we first witnessed the activity from the Haunted History Tour we've seen the ball of light again, like we've seen the first time. But we do not have it on video tape."Tracy said they need to capture audio or video evidence, which would be closely and carefully scrutinized, before they would make a judgement or announcement."We're going to go down there, turn the video camera on, just kind of sit around, see if anything comes up and hopefully we'll have it on video tape," Tracy said. "That kind of what we're going for. We just can't go on personal experiences. That don't validate anything."He denied anybody in his group uses anything but scientific means during paranormal investigations. "We do not deal with psychics. We don't allow any psychics in our group," Tracy said. "Where's the proof? That's what we want."Tracy said he wasn't aware of the activities at the church. But he was concerned they may have misconstrued their purpose Saturday night in Oakland Cemetery."I just don't want people to think that we're satanic worshipers, or something," Tracy said. "That's not what we're about at all. I want people to know that we take this seriously."_________________________________________________Local Church Leader Speaks OutPeople's Baptist Church Pastor Dave Clark said he disagrees with the paranormal activity that took place at Oakland Cemetery Saturday night. The pastor had asked people to come to the church Saturday night from 7 to 10 p.m. to pray the paranormal investigators would not turn up anything that they could point to as success. "People. They're buried there for a reason, because we know that they're gone. But the bigger thing is, looking for the living amongst the dead, that's kind of the strange part," Clark said. "And to try to find something abnormal in a cemetery in the dark, you know, it's rather strange to me."Clark expressed his frustration that the Centerville City Council would allow a group of paranormal investigators access to Oakland Cemetery but not allow residents and others the opportunity to place wreaths on graves this Christmas. "Basically, the bottom line is that we've got a lot of people from the church with past relatives buried and they don't want things to come out of it," Clark said. "We just want everything to be as it was before. We don't want any side upset."Pastor Clark greeted people at the door of the church, which is just a stone’s throw from Oakland Cemetery. He said 50 people made the trip Saturday night to the church to pray.________________________________________________
UFO / OVNI Video: Unknown Light North of Mexico City
Posted: 02 Dec 2008 09:08 AM CST
Witness: I recorded this video on Sunday, November 30, 2008 to the north of Mexico City, heading toward the zenith. I only became aware of the object when I checked the images on a TV set. There was a family gathering at my mother's house that day, so I took advantage of this fact to go out and record airliners in flight (around 16:00 hours). From that location they can be clearly seen as they head for the airport. What could this object be? Anything from a UFO to space junk, or perhaps a heavenly body, although it was not visible at the moment that the recording was made. I'm rejecting the likelihood that it could be an artificial satellite, according to the Heavens Above registry, which indicates the time and location of satellites over Mexico City, particularly the International Space Station and the Iridium satellites, which are the brightest in the sky.________________________________________________
Joliet, Illinois Home's History Offers a Variety of Haunts
Posted: 02 Dec 2008 08:52 AM CST
The home at 519 Campbell St. in Joliet is, in many ways, an ideal backdrop for ghost hunting.Built in 1902, the home, with its dated, ornate style and wrought iron fence in front, could make passers-by think that the spirit world visits the place. And then there are the owners. Diethard Beyer, Kurt Beyer and Keith Nicholls live in the 25-room home, and every Halloween they transform the front yard into a haunted house attraction, complete with a hearse and a real human skeleton in an antique coffin. What allegedly happens every day in the home, though, is the reason the homeowners contacted Will County Ghost Hunters. In the main floor's library, the owners have smelled pipe smoke, felt the presence of a man and have found books that do not belong to any of them. They also have sensed the presence of a woman and a small boy."We are trying to get an answer to who is here with us," Diethard said. The homeowners have their own stories as to why otherworldly beings may inhabit the home. One of them lost a sister at a young age and another lost a partner. The current homeowners' experiences notwithstanding, the history of the home and the homes around it could explain the activity the three men have experienced but cannot explain. The home was built in 1902 by A.C. Clement, who bought the land from his father, Charles. A.C. lived with his family on Easter Avenue while 519 Campbell St. was under construction. Although A.C. built the home, he never lived in it. He committed suicide in the basement of his Eastern Avenue home before the Cambell Street one was finished. A.C.'s daughter, Laura, moved into the house with her family. In 1922, the house was converted into Resthaven Retirement home. In the late 1950s, it became Blackburn Funeral Home and remained so until the mid 1970s. The current homeowners bought the house in 2000. The homeowners unearthed numerous items in the house, such as the original arts and crafts style painted walls in the dining room that they are restoring. Although it is not known if anyone died in the house, Will County Ghost Hunter lead investigator Dan Jungles said the building's time as a nursing home could have meant that more than one death occurred within its walls. In addition, some hauntings are more about trapped energy than trapped beings. The building's time as a funeral home meant than there was a lot of grief felt there. Will County Ghost Hunters went out to the house on Oct. 10. During the investigation, a ghost box was used, which essentially is a radio that scans through the stations without stopping. The idea is that ghosts can use the white noise to answer questions in real time (the investigation concluded that they did). The clearest communication came in a second-floor bedroom to the question, "Did you have children?" The response was "two boys." In addition to that, ghosts seem to call the names of two of the investigators, Jeri (Fulan) and Sunnie (Boland). In addition, a voice called out the name Peggy. The homeowners did not have an explanation for that. In previous investigations at the home, the investigators caught what appears to be the shadow of a figure who would stand more than 7 feet. Jungles said the house is definitely haunted. But the homeowners don't really mind. They would like to know who shares their space with them, but they don't necessarily want the entities to leave. "We want them to stay," Kurt said. "They haven't thrown knives or anything."________________________________________________
Researchers Uncover Possible Universal Mechanism Of Aging
Posted: 02 Dec 2008 08:36 AM CST
Researchers have uncovered what may be a universal cause of aging, one that applies to both single cell organisms such as yeast and multicellular organisms, including mammals. This is the first time that such an evolutionarily conserved aging mechanism has been identified between such diverse organisms. The mechanism probably dates back more than one billion years. The study shows how DNA damage eventually leads to a breakdown in the cell's ability to properly regulate which genes are switched on and off in particular settings.Like our current financial crisis, the aging process might also be a product excessive deregulation.Researchers have discovered that DNA damage decreases a cell's ability to regulate which genes are turned on and off in particular settings. This mechanism, which applies both to fungus and to us, might represent a universal culprit for aging."This is the first potentially fundamental, root cause of aging that we've found," says Harvard Medical School professor of pathology David Sinclair. "There may very well be others, but our finding that aging in a simple yeast cell is directly relevant to aging in mammals comes as a surprise."These findings appear in the November 28 issue of the journal Cell. For some time, scientists have know that a group of genes called sirtuins are involved in the aging process. These genes, when stimulated by either the red-wine chemical resveratrol or caloric restriction, appear to have a positive effect on both aging and health.Nearly a decade ago, Sinclair and colleagues in the Massachusetts Institute of Technology lab of Leonard Guarente found that a particular sirtuin in yeast affected the aging process in two specific ways—it helped regulate gene activity in cells and repair breaks in DNA. As DNA damage accumulated over time, however, the sirtuin became too distracted to properly regulate gene activity, and as a result, characteristics of aging set in."For ten years, this entire phenomenon in yeast was considered to be relevant only to yeast," says Sinclair. "But we decided to test of this same process occurs in mammals."Philipp Oberdoerffer, a postdoctoral scientist in Sinclair's Harvard Medical School lab, used a sophisticated microarray platform to probe the mammalian version of the yeast sirtuin gene in mouse cells. The results in mice corroborated what Sinclair, Guarente, and colleagues had found in yeast ten years earlier.Oberdoerffer found that a primary function of sirtuin in the mammalian system was to oversee patterns of gene expression (which genes are switch on and which are switch off). While all genes are present in all cells, only a select few need to be active at any given time. If the wrong genes are switched on, this can harm the cell. (In a kidney cell, for example, all liver genes are present, but switched off. If these genes were to become active, that could damage the kidney.) As a protective measure, sirtuins guard genes that should be off and ensure that they remain silent. To do this, they help preserve the molecular packaging—called chromatin—that shrink-wraps these genes tight and keeps them idle. The problem for the cell, however, is that the sirtuin has another important job. When DNA is damaged by UV light or free radicals, sirtuins act as volunteer emergency responders. They leave their genomic guardian posts and aid the DNA repair mechanism at the site of damage.During this unguarded interval, the chromatin wrapping may start to unravel, and the genes that are meant to stay silent may in fact come to life. For the most part, sirtuins are able to return to their post and wrap the genes back in their packaging, before they cause permanent damage. As mice age, however, rates of DNA damage (typically caused by degrading mitochondria) increase. The authors found that this damage pulls sirtuins away from their posts more frequently. As a result, deregulation of gene expression becomes chronic. Chromatin unwraps in places where it shouldn't, as sirtuin guardians work overtime putting out fires around the genome, and the unwrapped genes never return to their silent state. In fact, many of these haplessly activated genes are directly linked with aging phenotypes. The researchers found that a number of such unregulated mouse genes were persistently active in older mice."We then began wondering what would happen if we put more of the sirtuin back into the mice," says Oberdoerffer. "Our hypothesis was that with more sirtuins, DNA repair would be more efficient, and the mouse would maintain a youthful pattern gene expression into old age."That's precisely what happened. Using a mouse genetically altered to model lymphoma, Oberdoerffer administered extra copies of the sirtuin gene, or fed them the sirtuin activator resveratrol, which in turn extended their mean lifespan by 24 to 46 percent."It is remarkable that an aging mechanism found in yeast a decade ago, in which sirtuins redistribute with damage or aging, is also applicable to mammals," says Leonard Guarente, Novartis Professor of Biology at MIT, who is not an author on the paper. "This should lead to new approaches to protect cells against the ravages of aging by finding drugs that can stabilize this redistribution of sirtuins over time."Both Sinclair and Oberdoerffer agree with Guarente's sentiment that these findings may have therapeutic relevance."According to this specific mechanism, while DNA damage exacerbates aging, the actual cause is not the DNA damage itself but the lack of gene regulation that results," says Oberdoerffer. "Lots of research has shown that this particular process of regulating gene activity, otherwise known as epigenetics, can be reversed—unlike actual mutations in DNA. We see here, through a proof-of-principal demonstration, that elements of aging can be reversed."Recent findings by Chu-Xia Deng of the National Institute of Diabetes, Digestive and Kidney Diseases, has also found that mice that lack sirtuin are susceptible to DNA damage and cancer, reinforcing Sinclair's and Oberdoerffer's data. This research was funded by the National Institutes of Health, and the Glenn Foundation for Medical Research. Posted: 03 Dec 2008 11:10 AM CST
Videos depict several personal descriptions of alien close encounters and abductions by Australian citizens. Very well done production.___________________________________________________The Gundiah Mackay Alien AbductionAn extraordinary and controversial milieu has developed around events that reportedly began late on the evening of Thursday, October 4th, 2001, at a Gundiah property near Tiaro, culminating in the early hours of Friday, October 5th, 2001, and then played out in the glare of rapidly escalating media coverage.Three people were directly involved in these alleged events. Keith Rylance (39), his wife Amy (22), and their business partner, Petra Heller (35) were on their property, which was being developed as "Whispering Winds" winery. Other potential activities were also being developed at the location. The following account comes from interviews conducted by us with them, along with primary source material such as TV interviews.Keith Rylance told us that he had gone to sleep in the caravan bedroom at about 9.30 pm. Petra retired to her bedroom in the caravan annex. Amy stayed on a couch watching TV in the caravan annex "lounge room". Each of these locations were in close proximity, separated by a window and wall respectively from the lounge room. Petra's room had a door leading to the lounge room, which was left ajar. The door to the bedroom, where Keith was, apparently was open to the lounge room. Amy apparently fell asleep on the couch. A storm was in the area.Around 11.15 pm, Petra was reportedly woken up and when she entered the adjacent lounge was confronted by an extraordinary sight, that allegedly quickly overwhelmed her. A rectangular beam of light was being projected through the open window of the caravan lounge room. This light beam appeared to be truncated at the end. Inside the beam Petra claims to have seen Amy in a sleep prone position, being carried out head first through the window. Underneath her, also within the beam were the items that had been on the coffee table adjacent to the couch Amy had been on. Before apparently fainting in shock Petra saw that the beam was coming from a disc shaped UFO hovering just above the ground a short distance away, near a tree at the rear of the clear section, immediately behind the annex caravan house.Petra reports she believes she was only in a faint for a very short period of time. Regaining consciousness, she began screaming. Keith reports that he was awoken by the commotion coming from Petra. As he came from the caravan bedroom and stepped down into the lounge room annex Keith claims he was confronted by the sight of a highly agitated Petra and the contents of the coffee table on the floor in front of the window. He told us that he soon realised that the window screen was torn in both a vertical fashion and along the bottom of the window frame. Keith indicated that initially he couldn't get any sense out of Petra who was crying and very agitated, so he rushed outside trying to locate Amy.She was reportedly nowhere to be found. Keith states when he started to be less agitated himself he was eventually able to get from Petra an idea of what happened. Keith claims he initially refused to believe what Petra was telling him. He said he rushed outside again trying to find his wife. Eventually as the situation became clearer, Keith indicates he decided to call the police. Keith call the Tiaro police around 11.40 pm reporting that his wife had been abducted and imploring that the police should come out. The manning status at that time meant there were some delays in the police coming out, but about hour and a half after the initial call Senior Constable Robert Maragna from Tiaro and an officer from Maryborough arrived at the site. Initially police thought they might have been walking into a situation involving foul play, even perhaps a murder scene, but then the bizarre circumstances of the alleged events came into focus. The two people, Keith and Petra, at the Gundiah property were claiming that Amy Rylance had been abducted by a "spaceship"! The officers were struggling to keep an open mind. They were joined later by Sgt. John Bosnjak, the officer in charge of the Tiaro police. He had been asleep when the police called him to assist in the investigation. The three officers continued their investigations at the site. They confirmed that Keith Rylance and Petra Heller appeared to be in an agitated state and that there was no sign of Amy Rylance. The torn screen was examined. A flowering bush, commonly known as "yesterday, today, tomorrow" was located immediately outside the left side of window, had indications of possibly being affected by heat or another mechanism along its right side. Oddly another flowering bush, a hibiscus, located immediately on the right hand side of the window area was not affected in the same way. The police took samples for possible later testing. While the police were at the property, a phone call came through, which was taken by Keith Rylance. A woman was calling from Mackay indicating that she had taken a somewhat distressed and apparently dehydrated young woman from a BP petrol service station on the northern outskirts of central Queensland city of Mackay, some 790 kilometres to the north of the Gundiah - Tiaro area. The young woman turned out to be Amy Rylance, and the female caller was ringing to advise that Amy was apparently all right and was at the Mackay hospital, where she had been examined by a doctor. Keith handed the phone to Snr. Constable Marangna.Given these extraordinary circumstances Mackay police were called in, making a total of three police stations involved in the investigation -Tiaro, on outskirts of central Qeensland, Maryborough on the coast and Mackay, some 790 kilometres to the north of the Gundiah - Tiaro area.A statement was notarised by the Mackay police with a Justice Act acknowledgement, that required Amy to acknowledge that she had stated was true to the best of her knowledge and belief, and that if it is admitted as evidence, that she may be liable to prosecution if she had indicated anything in it that she knew was false. This statement indicated that she last only recollected lying on the couch at the Gundiah property. She had no recollection of the events that Petra described, but claimed she then next remembered waking up lying on a bench in a strange rectangular room. llumination came from the walls and the ceiling. She was alone. She indicated she called out and heard what seemed to be a male voice, asking her to be calm and that everything would be alright and that she would not be harmed. Soon an opening appeared in the wall and "a guy" about 6 feet tall walked into the room. The man appeared to be slender in build but in perfect proportion, covered head to foot in a full body suit. He had what seemed to be a black covering mask on his face, with a hole for his eyes, nose and mouth. He repeated his calming assurances. Amy felt she had been there a while. The guy told her they were returning her to a place not far from where they took her from, because the lights were wrong at the property and it wasn't safe. She then indicates she found herself lying on the bed and falling asleep. The next thing she recollects is that she woke up on the ground with trees around her. She felt disorientated, could smell the ocean, and indicated she was not sure how long she tumbled through bushland, but seemingly it was for a long time, but she felt she wasn't making much progress. She then came out onto a road that looked like a highway and saw a light from a petrol station. She walked into the station, where staff seeing her state, tried to offer some assistance. She accepted some water, as she felt somewhat dehydrated. Initially she was not able to answer identifying questions, and didn't know where she was. She was also asked if she had been drinking or was on drugs, to which she said no. Amy indicated she felt tired, sore, drained and lethargic. She asked a woman at the service station to take her to the hospital, as she didn't know of where else to go. The woman and her friend took Amy to the hospital. Later Amy spoke with two police officers and also spoke with her husband Keith from the hospital. She then went to Mackay police station where she gave the statement of events. Amy also indicated that this sort of thing had never happened to her before, but when she was in 5th year school she had seen a large UFO surrounded by smaller objects. The police arranged to put Amy in a motel pending the arrival of her husband. He and Petra arrived during the day and indicated they spent considerable time with Amy discussing what happen. Extensive notes were apparently made and photographs were taken of a triangular arrangement of marks on her inner right thigh, marks on each heel and the growing out of her hair which she had dyed earlier in the week. Her hair had apparently started to show her former colour, suggestive that some considerable time had passed for her, apparently indicative of rather more than a few hours. Body hair had allegedly also become somewhat more pronounced that would otherwise would be apparent for the short time involved. Via an Newsagent's a copy of the Australian Ufologist magazine was purchased, Keith, Petra and Amy started to learn more about UFOs. Keith Rylance contacted the Australian UFO Research Network office number mentioned in the magazine. Diane Harrison took the call Date: Fri, 5 Oct 2001 15:20 p.m and for the next hour or so listened to the story that Keith and Amy told. Petra was apparently sleeping at the time.Given the nature of the story, its complexity and the fact it apparently featured the alleged use of "solid light", Diane decide to bring Bill Chalker into the investigation, making contact with him during the evening of Friday, October 5th. Paradoxically Bill was scheduled to talk at a Brisbane UFO conference on October 13th, and his topics included "solid light" cases and the application of science to alien abduction cases. Bill put a call through to them at the motel, securing permission to record the conversation. Once again Petra was not available to talk about her part in the alleged events. Keith Rylance went into considerable detail about the events, referring often to the notes they had apparently been compiling during the day. The details described covered the events Petra had witnessed, what Keith had experienced, and what Amy told them had happened to her during her experience. Finally Bill spoke with Amy, focusing mainly on the events before and after the claimed onboard experiences, because Keith had already gone into considerable detail about the latter.Bill discussed with Amy her general responses and her physical state and her current state of thought on her experiences. Keith Rylance seemed to want to control how both media and investigators would get involved. His desire to contact the media promptly drew from both Diane and Bill the suggestion that he should think very carefully about the possible ramifications of doing so. Keith seemed to feel that it was important to get the story out, as it would come out anyway and this way he could control the way it did. He was also trying to restrict the way the investigators could or should look into their experience. He claimed they didn't need to proof the experience. While he didn't directly witness the experiences he believed both Amy and Petra. Given the possible nature of the event, and that irrespective of the ultimate resolution of the affair, it seemed destined to be a big story, Diane and Bill decided to undertake an investigation. They had been given an indication from Keith Rylance that the three would wait for the investigators to come to Mackay. The claimants were in no apparent hurry to return to Gundiah. They gave permission for Bill and Diane to visit the property on the way. Bill arrived in the Brisbane area on Tuesday afternoon, October 9th. Diane and Bill then travelled to Gundiah, arriving at the Whispering Winds winery property, just after 10 pm. Because of the lateness of the hour, we got the witnesses permission to stay there overnight and to conduct whatever investigation we needed to do. Keith had arranged for a neighbour to regularly check on the two pets left behind, namely a parrot and a kelpie dog. He indicated to us that it would be okay to let the dog off for a run, but warned us it was very friendly but inclined to jump all over people. We let the dog off at some point and observed its behaviour. At one point it did jump up on the window where the damaged screen was located. This gave some support to the possibility that at least some, if not all of the damage, could have been caused by the dog. Some of the damage on closer inspection seemed suggestive of possible dog damage. Our inspection of the plant damage also suggested possible prosaic causes, such as heat stress. A plant at the front of the house had similar damage and a healthy flowering bush of the same species that was at the window, was examined by us at Mount Basset lawn cemetery has similar damaged. A gardener there we spoke to indicated that the species often had random or more extensive damage of a heat stress nature from hot sunlight. The prosaic possibilities for both the screen and the plant damage are only suggestive at this point and further investigation is required. We undertook extensive investigations at the property and the area. Police were very helpful. Our investigation generated many issues and questions, which we feel need resolution, in order to assist interpretations of these events. Further extensive investigations were undertaken in Mackay, focusing in particular at the area where Amy Rylance returned. These included attempts to reconstruct the circumstances of Amy's return, through onsite research. The BP petrol service station staff were spoken with and a surveillance video tape that may contain Amy's visit there was provided to us by the station owner. This part of our investigation also generated many issues and questions that need resolution if we are to approach any measure of certainty about the real nature of the events alleged.Keith Rylance indicated to us he would be available to us when we got to Mackay, but it was made clear to us early on the first day of our investigations there that this wasn't probably going to be the case. When we contacted the motel where they had been the night before, their third motel in Mackay, we learned they had apparently already checked out that morning. We left messages on their phone but didn't hear from Keith until early on the afternoon of our second day, as we were leaving Mackay. In his mobile call, Keith apologised for not being available, but was indicating they had relocated to an unspecified location after having fled the area. The primary reason for this Keith indicated was that they claimed they had a kind of "men-in-black" experience. In this case Keith was reporting a pursuit of their vehicle by a high powered dark brown 4 wheel truck. The nature of this event apparently frightened Keith, Amy and Petra, prompting Keith to attempt to loose the vehicle and eventually leave the area. Before the completion of this preliminary report (14th October) we have heard from Keith again. We remain hopeful that they will get into more direct contact with us. This affair is both extraordinary and controversial. Many have rushed to judgement, but given it's complex and evolving dynamics, caution and patience is necessary. We have many issues and questions we would like to try to resolve. Further contact with the Rylances and Petra Heller may help this process. The case is far from closed and requires an objective, open-minded investigation. Only time will give us the possibility of resolution and certainty about this intriguing but controversial affair.AUFORN: THE AUSTRALIAN UFO RESEARCH NETWORK_______________________________________________

Ms. Mendoza and her husband were recently attacked by flying lights in Moorpark CA. (northeast of Los Angeles). She testifies that a chupacabra, or a monkey creature was directing the craft. This is a section of a larger story about the real live events which recently took place in Moorpark, CA. Dr. Daniel Fryye has completed a video study of the strange lights that have assailed this California town in an under reported incident much like the Phoenix lights._______________________________________________
Soviet Cosmonauts Disclose UFO / Extraterrestrial Experiences
Posted: 03 Dec 2008 10:20 AM CST
The UFO phenomenon never existed in the former USSR, at least in the official records. There were numerous stories about unidentified flying objects which could be heard from susceptible individuals, but Soviet cosmonauts never said anything on the subject, although they had a lot to share.Former Soviet cosmonaut Vladimir Kovalenok appeared at a press conference devoted to unusual and anomalous phenomena in space. He said that he had witnessed something inexplicable during his work on board the Salyut orbital station. The cosmonaut said that he once saw a strange object on Earth’s orbit. He asked his partner, Viktor Savinykh, to fetch a camera. While Savinykh was trying to find the camera, the object exploded in front of Kovalenok’s eyes. The object split into two parts and had something like a bridge connecting those parts. The dumbbell-like object disappeared before the other cosmonaut was ready to photograph it. A strong radioactive emission was registered on Earth soon after the explosion of the mysterious object. Kovalenok said that many of his colleagues had witnessed something unusual on a number of occasions, but they decided not to bring those issues to the public attention. Pilot Pavel Popovich was on a flight from Washington to Moscow in 1978. The plane was flying at the height of about 10,000 meters, when he noticed a triangular luminescent object flying on the same trajectory with his aircraft. The speed of the triangle was higher than that of the plane – more than 1,700 km/h, whereas the jetliner was flying at 1,100 km/h. Cosmonauts Gennady Strekalov and Gennady Manakov saw a bright spherical object appearing in the cloudless sky above Newfoundland in 1990. The sphere disappeared without a trace ten seconds later. In 1991, Musa Manarov was observing the module with the new crew nearing the Mir Space Station, filming the process on video camera. He suddenly saw an antenna-like object separating from the module. He informed the cosmonauts inside the module that something had undocked from them. Nevertheless, it never became possible to identify the object, although it was filmed on camera. It goes without saying that cosmonauts informed their governing bodies of all those and many other strange incidents. All of the stories were most likely documented and subsequently classified. Cosmonauts may often witness other inexplicable events happening in space, Vladimir Kovalenok said. A tape recorder switched on by itself and started playing the crew’s favorite film on the orbit once, Kovalenok said. Psychologists often warn cosmonauts prior to their space missions that they may experience a phenomenon known as the altered state of consciousness. A Russian cosmonaut said in 1994 that he and his partner had numerous visions when they were working on board the Mir station for six months. It seemed to them that they were turning into weird creatures – animals and even humanoids of extraterrestrial origin.________________________________________________

Donald Trump to Refurbish and Live in Haunted Scottish Estate
Posted: 04 Dec 2008 10:22 AM CST
Who needs a luxe penthouse triplex in Trump Tower when the family can live on a wet and windy Scottish beach with their very own ghost in the cellar? The Trump Organization announced Wednesday that Menie House - the turreted estate in Balmedie, Aberdeenshire, whose grounds will be the site of a planned $1.5 billion golf resort - is being renovated to become "the Trump family residence in Scotland." Local lore says the house - which includes a tower dating back to the 14th century - comes with a ghost, the Green Lady. News that Donald Trump may soon be a neighbor did not impress Michael Forbes, the ornery farmer who refused to sell his 23 acres on the Menie land to make way for the golf development. Forbes said he considers Trump "a loudmouth bully" and didn't believe the tycoon would live locally. "It's too cold here for him," Forbes said. Environmental advocate Mickey Foote, who lives 400 yards from Menie House, said he would greet Trump enthusiastically. "I would welcome Donald to experience the tranquility and beauty of the land he's going to destroy," Foote said. George Sorial, Trump's managing director for international development, insisted the family "will spend a lot of time" at the house and will not be deterred by northeast Scotland's notorious weather. Sorial wouldn't put a price tag on the renovation but said it would be "significant .... We're looking to put it back to its original grandeur." As for the ghost, Sorial said he and Trump both stayed in the house and haven't yet crossed her path. "I'm looking forward to meeting her," he quipped. Sorial denied that Trump is low on cash to finance the golf project. Trump Entertainment Resorts, which runs three casinos in Atlantic City, missed a deadline to make a $53.1 million interest payment earlier this week. "He's not short on cash," Sorial said.________________________________________________
Night Vigil in the Stones River Battlefield, Tennessee
Posted: 04 Dec 2008 09:09 AM CST
It is a cold Monday night. The trees are bare and a light fog settles over the ground where the Battle of Stones River took place nearly 150 years ago.Ryan Burk, sophomore recording industry major, and I bundle up in warm clothes while carrying a couple of Sony voice recorders and a flashlight. Tonight, we are not here to enjoy the sites. We're here to catch a ghost. Ryan has already had a few years of experience in paranormal investigation from working with groups like Tennessee Ghost Hunters. The anniversary of the beginning of the battle, which began on Dec. 31, 1862, is at the end of next month. The battle ended on Jan. 2, 1863."This is the peak time of [paranormal] activity on the battlefield," Ryan says. The air is still when we arrive at the battlefield, and we spend about 30 minutes quietly listening. Nothing. We decide to engage in some conversation with one another. We try a few things to provoke spirits, such as asking questions and talking about major generals of the Civil War, but still nothing happens. After 90 minutes, we decide it is time to go.But the night is still young. When we return to Monohan Hall, I am greeted by a group of three other college students. They know what we were doing and are eager to see a ghost. The three convince me to return to the battlefield with them around 2 a.m. Ryan says that from 2 a.m. until 4 a.m. is the time that Ryan says is the best time for ghost hunting. "A lot of it has to do with the gravitational pull of the moon," Ryan says. "It takes a lot of energy to pull the oceans' tides. That is energy that spirits can use to manifest themselves."I leave Monohan Hall with the other three students almost immediately. Ryan is forced to stay behind because he has early classes the next day. Upon arriving at the same scene, I notice the fog has grown thicker. This time, the battlefield is not so quiet. Within 15 minutes of our arrival, we see unexplainable flashes and experience cold spots.Shortly afterward, my voice recorder's battery indicator drops from full to one bar. The mood among us begins to lighten. Each of us wants to have some kind of experience. Soon, we begin to see a number of possible shadow figures and hear strange screeching noises and faint footsteps. We try to replicate the flashes we previously seen by moving objects in front of the flashlight. Nothing we try reproduces them. Much of the area surrounding the battlefield contains roads, factories and neighborhoods. This makes us doubtful that we will experience anything paranormal. After another 90 minutes on the battlefield, we return to campus. While listening to my recordings of the night, I hear a loud scratchy voice commenting on a crude joke one of us said. What the voice says is incoherent. Still, the question remains - Is Stones River Battlefield haunted? "Most of the proof for paranormal activity can only be experienced," Ryan explains. "[This] means all we have to go by is recorded evidence, which can easily be disproved." The key to ghost hunting is research, Ryan says. "Know the history. Know what happened," he says. "This can strengthen any evidence you find."For some, Stones River National Battlefield may be an incredible site for ghost hunting. According to the National Park Service Web site, there were nearly 24,000 casualties during the battle, making the Battle of Stones River the second bloodiest battle in the Civil War.Unfortunately, some of the more interesting sites of the battlefield belong to the state park, which closes before nightfall. The actual battlefield itself, though, spans far beyond the state park's boundaries into neighborhoods, roads and local businesses.________________________________________________
Nigerian 'Witch Doctor' Confesses He Killed 110 Possessed Children
Posted: 04 Dec 2008 08:44 AM CST
Rights campaigners say “witch doctors” in some parts of the country convince parents that their children are possessed and will bring misfortune such as divorce or disease. The fraudulent doctors then extort money from the frightened parents to perform exorcisms, campaigners say. Some children fall into the hands of child trafficking networks after being handed over by their parents, the charities claim. Bishop Sunday Ulup-Aya, arrested in Mbo, close to the Atlantic coast, with six other suspects, had claimed in a documentary to have killed 110 children beset by evil spirits, said Aniekan Umanah, the commissioner for information in the southeastern state of Akwa Ibom. “I am not denying that I am a witchdoctor, but what I killed are witches in my patients with herbs, not children,” Mr Ulup-Aya said while in detention. Akwa Ibom is one of Nigeria’s top oil-producing states, but poverty is pervasive and many residents are superstitious. The state has the highest incidence of child-trafficking in Africa’s most populous nation. Sam Ikpe-Ituama, whose group Child Rights Rehabilitation Network is spearheading the rescue of children accused of witchcraft in the state, said Mr Ulup-Aya may be part of a network of human traffickers. “No corpses were discovered in his church, but two kids held captive for supposed deliverance, as well as some fetish items, were taken from there by the police,” said Mr Ikpe-Ituama, who led a security team that raided the building.

Mormon Missionaries Discover Sasquatch Footprint In British Columbia
Posted: 05 Dec 2008 11:41 AM CST
Two missionaries with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints received a scare on the night of Dec. 2 when they saw what they think was a set of sasquatch footprints outside of their Burns Lake home.Tyler Beck and Brad Blazzard are in B.C. for two years, rotating in different communities throughout the Smithers and Burns Lake area for the past seven months."The first thing we thought was that someone was playing a trick on us," Beck said."But we don't know anyone our age who would do that and our house in on the southside, so pretty much in the middle of nowhere."The footprints, which Beck said was about 20 inches long is right in front of Beck's porch, leading to the path where the pair keep their wood shed.Beck said prior to finding the footprint at 9:30 p.m. on the night of Dec. 2, he didn't really believe in the possibility of bigfoot."I still don't know what to think," he said. "I have heard some pretty ridiculous things about bigfoot but now I am leaning toward the edge of thinking it may be possible."The house sits in front of a lake and Beck said in the four-and-a-half months he has been there, he has seen all manner of coyotes and wolves. This is the first time he has seen any sign of the fabled creature. In addition to a rash of sightings in the Bulkley Valley in the summer and fall, Larry Sommerfield, a self-proclaimed sasquatch hunter from Terrace had a cast that he claimed was a sasquatch print.Sommerfield was reluctant to tell The Terrace Standard how he came into possession of the 16-inch long cast, except to say that it was made in mid-August from a footprint found in a gravel pit just east of the Kitselas First Nation's subdivision east of Terrace on Highway 16.Brian Vike, Director of HBCC UFO research is still trying to verify three sasquatch sightings in Moricetown.“Since I got the initial call, I’ve had no other information,” Vike told the Houston Today. “ As near as I can tell, the sightings all happened after the end of September but I have called and called but no one is calling me back.”The lady who called on the morning of Halloween, told Vike that there had been a rash of sightings on the native reserve. Unfortunately without talking to someone who could give a first-person account, Vike said the information is hearsay at best.Vike got the details from the first account from the woman’s mother.“Allegedly, she was walking out to the mailbox and this thing walked in front of her,” Vike said. “But I called and called and got nowhere so I am thinking this is a little fishy.”Another women apparently told friends that she had seen a sasquatch peeking in someone’s window. The last report allegedly involved a school bus driver who saw the creature standing in a field.A sighting in Houston in late July by Delores Harrie captured international media attention.Harrie saw the creature out at her home on Buck Flats Road on July 28.At 5:45 a.m. that morning, Harrie heard her dogs barking at the door. When she went down to investigate she saw that someone or something was rattling the door handle. She eventually opened the door and the dogs were out like a shot, sniffing out something on he east side of her property. When she looked out at the side of her house, she saw a creature that was walking on two legs.“It was huge and it had long hair, not fur — kind of like the kind you see on an ox and a reddish brown, the colour of the trees that are killed by the pine beetle,” said the woman. “And it moved so fast, by the time I opened my door it had run from the porch to the other side of the house.”Once outside, the dogs pursued the creature it continued along a dried-up ravine and disappeared into a forested area. Her oldest dog didn’t return for three hours.“I was worried but what do you do, tell people your dog is chasing bigfoot?” she asked. “I drove up and down the road, looking for him and eventually he came back.”After Harrie’s report, there was a report on Telkwa High Road and sightings in Campbell River."I have been here for almost five months trying to do good work and I end up with bigfoot prints in front of my house," Beck said.________________________________________________

Whipper is a mutated budgie. "Budgie" is short for "budgerigar", the Australian term for the U.S. English word "Parakeet". There can be notable variations within the budgie Tribe and there are color mutations within his breed. But Whipper has been the only mutant of his kind. His most distinct mutation is the long curly plumage. Tragically rejected as a small fledgling, he grew up to be a pop star of New Zealand. He was born in Winton, Southland District, New Zealand.
The Final Chapter on O.J. Simpson...Conspiracy or Justice?
Posted: 05 Dec 2008 02:58 PM CST
Guilty on all counts" was the verdict of a Las Vegas jury which, ironically, came 13 years to the day after O.J. Simpson was acquitted on double murder charges in California. Although hardly "the trial of the century," this Las Vegas verdict may have been the beginning of the final chapter in a long history of legal cases starring O.J. Simpson.Arguably one of the greatest football running backs of all time, Simpson starred at USC, won the Heisman, played 10 years in the NFL and ultimately made it to the College and Pro Football Halls of Fame. After his sports career, Simpson became a TV and movie actor, as well as a popular pitchman for Hertz. As everyone will remember, Simpson played the starring role in the "trial of the century" which arose out of the 1994 brutal stabbing murders of his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend, Ronald Goldman. The 1995 trial lasted for months and the drama unfolded before our eyes on TV with an all-star defense team, including Johnnie Cochran and F. Lee Bailey, winning a not-guilty verdict despite what appeared to be overwhelming evidence of Simpson's guilt. Not long after the not-guilty verdict, Ronald Goldman's family filed a civil wrongful death lawsuit. Unlike the criminal jury, the civil jury found Simpson liable for the murder of Ronald Goldman and ordered him to pay $33.5 million in damages, the vast majority of which remains unpaid. The Law Vegas case involved items of sports memorabilia that Simpson had lost when trying to hide them from seizure by the Goldman family to pay the wrongful death verdict. An associate of Simpson, Thomas Riccio, learned that memorabilia dealers who were staying at the Las Vegas Palace Station Hotel and Casino had some of the lost O.J. memorabilia. Riccio talked to Simpson and agreed to set up a "raid" in which a "purchase" would be arranged but, in reality, Simpson and others would retrieve the items. On Sept. 13, 2007, Simspon and several associates went to the Palace Station. Although the testimony was contradictory, witnesses who participated in the "raid" and who took plea bargains stated that Simpson told them to bring handguns and that the guns were pointed at the dealers during the raid. In addition, audiotapes of the raid included a voice which sounded like Simpson's saying "Don't let nobody out of this room. Mother f--, you think you can steal my s- and sell it."After the others involved in the raid cut deals with the prosecution and pled guilty to lesser charges, the charges filed against Simpson and his co-defendant, Clarence Stewart, included conspiracy (planning a crime with others), kidnapping (holding someone against their will), robbery (theft by means of force or threats), burglary (entering a home with the intent to commit a crime), assault with a deadly weapon and other charges. The theme of the prosecution's case against Simpson was that he planned and participated in the raid which involved holding people against their will with the use of handguns and the taking of personal property which included O.J. and other sports memorabilia. Simpson's defense, although he did not testify, tried to prove that Simpson was only retrieving his own personal property and that he did not know that guns were involved. Unlike at his double murder trial, Simpson did not have the all-star criminal defense team. His former defense attorney, Johnnie Cochran ("If the glove doesn't fit, you must acquit") died in 2005 of an inoperable brain tumor. After weeks of testimony and the presentation of secret audio recordings, the Las Vegas jury found both Simpson and his co-defendant, Clarence Stewart, guilty on all 12 charges. Although appeals are pending, Simpson was immediately incarcerated and likely faces stiff sentencing, which is scheduled for December. The kidnapping conviction could result in a life sentence. Robbery has a mandatory two-year sentence and the other charges carry 1 to 6 year sentences. In reality, O.J. Simpson faces a minimum of 6 years in prison and will most likely receive a stiffer sentence. I will update this posting when the verdict is read, but the question is....was Simpson a victim of a conspiracy or did he receive justice?UPDATE: O.J. Simpson received a minimum of 9 years in prison with a maximum of 33 years.
Are Humans 80,000 Years Older Than Previously Thought?
Posted: 05 Dec 2008 09:54 AM CST
Modern humans may have evolved more than 80,000 years earlier than previously thought, according to a new study of sophisticated stone tools found in Ethiopia. The tools were uncovered in the 1970s at the archaeological site of Gademotta, in the Ethiopian Rift Valley. But it was not until this year that new dating techniques revealed the tools to be far older than the oldest known Homo sapien bones, which are around 195,000 years old. Witness statement: 3 objects with very bright white lights hovering for approximately 5 minutes (7:05 pm eastern time) in the near distance. Again approximately (9:45pm easter time) 1 object with bright white lights flying over a farm field not far from original sighting.12/5/08 approximately 7:05pm eastern time: My family was leaving for a night out when we noticed 3 very bright white lights in the near distance outside our front door of our home. I took some pictures (enclosed) with a digital camera but the zoom didn't do a very good job so the pictures look farther away then we actually seen with our naked eyes. We stood there and watched in amazement and wonder what exactly they were. All three object were hovering in a fixed spot and then one object would glide what seemed to be in a slow motion toward one of the others and stop and then distanced itself further and had colorful blinking lights and what sounded like a quite (helicopter propeller) like sound, but quieter. Because of the time and our prior commitment, we had to leave but we had plenty to talk about and thought maybe it was military related since a naval air base is located 10 to 15 miles south in Horsham, PA. 12/5/08 approximately 9:45pm eastern time: My family was returning home and seen just one object with the same exact description (bright white lights) and what looked to be a circular shape but was hard to make out because the lights were so bright and very close to the objects underbelly (which made the object look blurred to the naked eye) even my family members said they couldn't make it out for the same reasons, the bright lights were just so bright which made it look blurry. It was flying close to the ground over farm fields off of Stump & Haring Roads in Plumstead and after trying to follow it for a minute or two with our vehicle, it was gone into the crystal clear, star-lit sky.________________________________________________

The Ghosts Onboard the USS Constellation
Posted: 06 Dec 2008 10:53 AM CST
The original USS Constellation was commissioned in 1797 and her history is long and bloody. The ship fought against the French, various gangs of pirates, slave traders, and other unsavory Barbary corsairs. It served in 5 major wars, from the Civil War through World War 2. It was finally retired in 1955, and permanently docked in Baltimore, Maryland. There’s not much left of the original ship, which was totally rebuilt in 1855, but enough that ghosts from the original vessel are still seen on her decks. Cries and moans have been heard in the hold, and witnesses have heard the sounds and felt the motion of unseen people running about. Late one evening a night watchman inspecting the ship's orlop (storage) deck with only a flashlight to lead him through this narrow area at the bottom of the ship was startled by a misty white light which appeared out of nowhere and became a sailor in an outdated uniform. He walked towards the watchman, who stood frozen to the spot as the ghost passed through him. Who was it? There are several possibilities. The Ghost of Neil HarveyHe was court-martialled by The Constellation’s first captain, Commodore Thomas Truxton, for cowardice. Truxton had Lieutenant Starrett, run his sword through the seaman. He then had Harvey’s wounded, but still living body tied to a cannon and blown to pieces as a warning to the rest of the crew. This was a brutal death, but a traditional one used by both the British and American navies in this era. Neil Harvey is the most frequently seen ghost aboard the Constellation. He often appears as a shimmering mass. The Ghost of Captain TruxtonOn a cold December night in 1955 close to midnight, Lt. Cmdr. Allen Ross Brougham and a friend set up a camera on the deck. After they "detected a faint scent in the air-a certain something not unlike gunpowder," before them appeared a "phosphorescently glowing, translucent ectoplasmic manifestation of a late Eighteenth Century or early Nineteenth Century sailor, complete with gold stripe trouser, cocked hat and sword." He quickly took a photo which was printed in the local paper a few days later. Some say this figure may be the stern Captain Truxton, who is also believed to haunt the ship. The Ghost of a Young BoyA young surgeon’s assistant was only age 11 when he was stabbed to death by two other sailors. According to Sybil Leek, a psychic who worked with Hans Holzer, he was murdered in the cockpit of the orlop deck. The Ghost of a Depressed SailorSaid to have been so overwhelmed by the harsh life at sea that he hung himself, he may be seen floating around and across the gun and forecastle deck. The Ghost of Carl HansenThis ship’s friendliest spirit, he was a night watchman who watched over the ship until an alarm system was installed in the mid 1960’s. He was a retired Royal navy cook, who clearly loved the ship. He has been seen on several occasions playing cards below deck. A frequently-told story about him tells of a priest who came aboard and not encountering any tour guides, went below alone. There he met an old sailor who proceeded to explain the workings of the ship to him. When he went back up to the deck, he encountered several tour guides who informed him that there was no one below. All hurried down, but no one was found. It has also been reported that he sat next to a young girl and smiled at her at a Sea Scout party.Today the historic vessel is docked at Pier 1 in Baltimore's Inner Harbor, where you can climb aboard and get a firsthand look at what life was like aboard and perhaps have a close encounter with her past.________________________________________________
Texas Couple Bit / Bludgeoned 13-Month-Old Girl to Death in Exorcism
Posted: 06 Dec 2008 09:48 AM CST
They claim they were trying to drive the demons out of the 13-month-old, but law enforcement officers say the bottom line is a Rusk County couple bludgeoned the little girl to death with a hammer and other objects and bit her more than 20 times in the most grotesque murder the seasoned officers can remember.Blaine Keith Milam, 19 and Jesseca Bain Carson, 18, both of Henderson, remain jailed on $2 million bonds each. They are charged with capital murder for the Tuesday morning death of Carson’s daughter Amora Bain Carson.Lt. Reynold Humber said Rusk County Sheriff’s Office dispatchers received a 911 call from a home at 13717 County Road 2125 shortly after 10:35 Tuesday morning that a child was not breathing.“When the first deputies arrived, Champion EMS was on the scene and they told the deputies the child was deceased and there were suspicious circumstances,” Humber said during a press conference Wednesday at the RSCO just moments after the couple was arraigned on the charges. When the detectives entered the residence they found Amora on the floor in a bedroom and they immediately knew they had a homicide.Humber said the couple told detectives multiple stories of how the child suffered the injuries, including a fabricated auto accident and then a story of how the child was attacked by the family’s dogs. The couple then told investigators they had left the child unattended and someone else must have gone into the home and harmed the child. Carson and Milam even said the child beat herself in the head with the hammer.“They had multiple stories they went through before they told us they had beaten the child to death,” he said. “It is their version of the truth.”Humber said the couple then told deputies the child was possessed and they were trying to rid her of demons. An arrest affidavit states Milam performed an exorcism of the demons possessing their child. The affidavit continues to state after Milam killed the child with Carson looking on the couple “drove to Henderson to pawn some items to pay for an exorcism.”Officials said Milam and Carson told detectives they decided to hire a priest after the exorcism went badly. However, Humber said there was no information of any clergy being called to the home.As the couple waited for arraignment on the charges, Carson crossed her arms and silently sobbed. Milam casually looked around the courtroom then occasionally looked back at his hand where he had a visible bite mark.Milam was sentenced in August of this year on a charge of aggravated sexual assault of a child and received a probated sentence. He has also been arrested on charges of causing a disturbance and assault/family violence.Humber said Carson graduated as an honor student last year and she seemed very intelligent and added she had not been in any trouble with police. When asked if he bought the couple’s story about what happened, Humber replied, “The child had been beaten so much we couldn’t tell how many times it was hit and then there were more than 20 bite marks on her body. The bottom line regardless of any stories is that they killed that sweet little innocent child.”

Witness statement: My 14 yr old son and I were driving home from a HS football game in Dallas. We were south bound on I-35 between West and Elmott when I noticed an odd light in the sky. It was almost due south according to the compass in my truck. It was about a hand width above the horizon. It was a spot of light that was irregular in shape and to the naked eye appeared to be changing both shape and color. It cycled through the pastel colors (light blue, light green, light yellow, light purple and light pink). I brought it to my son's attention to see if he could see the same thing. After watching it for a few miles he described it much as I did above. As we were passing through Elmott I estimated that it was directly above James Conally Airport. At one point I thought it might be a sheriff's chopper with a spotlight. I figured we would be passing it on our left as we travelled further south. We did not. It was either moving away from us or it was stationary and much further away than I had estimated. As we approached the north side of Waco I decided we could get a better look if I hopped on Loop 340 which circles Waco to the West and South. It also takes us out of the city lights. As we rounded the loop headed toward Robinson it became apparent that it was much further away than I had thought. It was however still to the south but it did seem slightly lower to the horizon (about two fingers at arms length). All the while it continued to cycle randomly through the pastels and seemed to continuosly change shape to the naked eye. It never appeared to be round or symetrical in any way. We turned off on FM3400 and followed it to the south until we reached Downsville road approx 4-5 miles from the loop. As it became apparent that we werent getting any closer I decided to pull over so we could get a better look. Standing still made no difference. It still changed shape and color. The sky was clear and full of stars and a half moon. Nothing else in the sky came close in appearance. I would say it was 2 to 4 times brighter than the next brightest star. We watched it for about 5 minutes. It never really appeared to move. It just twisted and turned and changed color. From time to time I thought I could see faint light beams radiating out from it but I couldn't be sure. We then decided to go home and get my small spotting scope out. Sure enough we still had a good view of it from our back yard. Again it appeared staionary from that vantage. Through the scope it looked somewhat different. It appeared to have a solid shape but irregular like a rough tear drop shape on a 45 degree slant. You could still see the color changes clearly but it was really tough to focus and hold it in frame.I decided to take some pictures so I got my Sony DSC-H1 and a tripod and took multiple pictures on multiple settings. I also took a couple of short MPG's which show the color changes very well. Most of the pictures are fuzzy but there are a few that are very interesting. They look stringy or like squiggles I assumed that was from the vibration from me pushing the shutter button. I had recalled seeing a few stills on the news from the Stephenville sightings earlier this year. I pulled them up on my computer to show my son. Actually it was a video on You Tube by David Caron. Both my son and I agree that they are a perfect match. Anyway, we quit watching it and came inside because it was getting cold. It was still in the same location doing its thing at about 2:30 a.m. Can you guys let me know if it is a known object? I don't see anything on the star chart that should be there.________________________________________________
The Wanstead Beast Sightings: Ghosts of Creatures Past?
Posted: 07 Dec 2008 11:54 AM CST
Over the last few weeks a few strange whispers have emerged from the woods of Wanstead concerning the possible sighting of a bear-like creature. The animal was first sighted during early November 2008 by 18-year-old angler Michael Kent who was fishing with his brother and father in the Hollow Ponds area of Epping Forest, on the border of Wanstead and Leytonstone. The teenager claimed that whilst walking towards his brother’s swim, he heard a rustling in the bushes and saw the back of a dark, hairy animal around four-foot in height, that scampered off into the woods.Local press heard about the story and for some strange reason asked whether Bigfoot was on the loose, giving the story a comical tale. However, a woman from the Love Lane area of Woodford Bridge, claimed she’d been left shaken after seeing a similar hairy beast in broad daylight which she described as having large feet, and standing around four-feet in height. The creature then leapt over a wall. Unfortunately, details of the sighting were rather vague and so such an incident will no doubt be relegated to the realms of folklore.Despite local wildlife officials stating it was not possible for bears to be on the loose locally, we only have to look back to 1981 and Hackney Marshes for a very similar story. On December 27, as a white quilt of snow lay heavy over the fields, a 13-year-old Tommy Murray and friends were fleeing from what they described as, ‘…a giant great growling hairy thing’, which left strange tracks on the virgin snow.More than fifty policemen with dogs, accompanied by marksmen, and a helicopter fluttering overhead, scoured the open spaces. Experts concluded that the tracks found were indeed made by a bear but no such animal was flushed out. The chief inspector at the time commented, ‘Although I didn’t see the boys myself, I’m reliably informed that they were very frightened by what they saw. They were not hoaxers, although, of course, they may have been hoaxed…I saw three sets of prints that to me were strange. One of the prints was on an island which had a perimeter fence and a locked gate. All three were on virgin snow and could not have been made by a hoaxer because no other prints were near them or led to or from them.’The small scare echoed reports from the previous year when two bear corpses were discovered on the River Lea at hackney. The animals had been decapitated and skinned but no-one knows just where they came from.Is it possible such elusive forms were phantom bears, ghosts from areas that once participated in bear baiting? At Chelsea’s Cheyne Walk, several bears of varying colour are said to haunt, whilst in the Tower of London a spectral bear was said to prowl and in 1817 to have frightened to death a sentry of the Jewel Room, whose bayonet passed right through the creature without effect. The guard was able to give his account before dying of shock shortly after.________________________________________________
Strange and Weird: Real-Life Cases of Mass Hysteria
Posted: 07 Dec 2008 11:02 AM CST
If you’re an avid movie watcher, you’ve probably come across some pretty weird urban legends and myths. What’s amazing is that oftentimes real-life occurrences of mass hysteria, spurred on by mass psychogenic illness or collective obsessional behavior are much more bizarre and scary than fictional myths. These anomalous phenomena occur just like other natural phenomena and have long-lasting psychological and often fatal effects on the victims. Unusual as they are, similarly absurd phenomena are observed in animals and plants as well.200+ Years of Witch Hunts, Trials and ExecutionsMost common in the Early Modern period (1480 to 1700) in Europe, witch hunts were one of the most popular and widespread forms of mass hysteria, resulting in legally sanctioned witchcraft trials and mob lynchings of many unfortunate people. The practice was so widespread that in later years absurdity of these accusations caused the term to adopt a connotation of malicious false accusations and persecution such as the anti-communist accusations during the McCarthy era.The Dancing Plague of 1518In July 1518 in Strasbourg, Alsace, France, a large number of people spontaneously started dancing for days without rest over a period of one month. Most of the people ended up dying due to heart attacks, strokes, or exhaustion. The plague started with one woman, in a matter of a few days that number increased to 34, and within a month to 400. To this day the cause of the mass hysteria is unknown. The War of the Worlds Martian InvasionAdapted from H. G. Wells’ famous novel The War of the Worlds, a Halloween radio broadcast on October 30, 1938 directed and narrated by Orson Welles caused thousands of listeners to believe that an actual Martian invasion was taking place (the fact that the environment was already generally hostile, leading up to the war, didn’t help). The hour-long radio broadcast was narrated in a news bulletin format, without any commercial breaks, causing many in the audience to be afraid while many others actually panicked, reporting that they could smell poison gas or see lightening flashes in the distance. According to some historians, approximately 6 million people heard the broadcast, 1.7 million thought it was true, and out of those, 1.2 million were actually frightened. The Tanganyika Laughter EpidemicThis laughter epidemic started in a Tanzanian village in 1962. Starting with an innocent joke in a boarding school, the resulting laughter is said to have perpetuated itself and spreading to thousands of people. The laughter, some people claim was incapacitating. Other symptoms included respiratory problems, fainting, pain, and weirdly enough, crying attacks. The phenomenon lasted for about 18 months. The Halifax Slasher IncidentOn November 1938, Halifax, England, a week-long scare was started after 2 people falsely claimed to have been attacked by a man with a mallet. In the days that followed, more reports of attacks by this ‘mysterious man’ started popping up. The situation got so serious that the Scotland Yard had to step in to help the police and get to the bottom of these reports. Several people were mistakenly identified as the slasher and consequently beaten up by angry mobs and matters escalated to a point where most businesses in the city were shutdown and people were afraid to leave their homes. On November 29, one of the original alleged victims admitted that he had made the story up, causing many others to also confess and leading to 5 people being charged with public mischief out of which 4 were eventually sent to prison.Strawberries With Sugar Soap Opera DiseaseMorangos com Açúcar is a famous Portuguese youth soap opera in its sixth season right now, and is popular in predominantly among children and teenagers because of its depiction of adventures of Portuguese youth. In May 2006, over 300 students across 14 different schools began reporting symptoms matching those of the characters on the show, including rashes, respiratory difficluties and more, causing many schools to shut down. The ‘disease’ was ultimately dubbed mass hysteria by the Portuguese National Institute for Medical Emergency. The Misanthropic Monkey-Man of DelhiThe story of this monkey-man is widespread in India though still remains a cryptid. Starting in May 2001, people started reporting that a strange monkey-man was attacking them at night. Descriptions of the monkey-man vary a great deal, with some believing him to be an avatar of a Hindu god, while others believe he is an Indian version of Bigfoot, and some even believing that he is a cyborg that can be deactivated if you throw water on its motherboard. The alleged victims include numerous people attaacked by the monkey-man, including one pregnant women, and a few others who were attacked by an angry mob which believed them to be the monkey-man.The Revenge of Kuchisake-OnnaKuchisake-onna, or Slit-Mouth Woman, is a Japanese mythological legend that tells the story of an unfortunate woman whose face was mutilated by a jealous husband, and who returns as an angry spirit hell bent on taking revenge by inflicting similar wounds on others. As with any good urban legend, rumors started circulating in 1979 about Kuchisake-onna sightings, then again in 2004, and again in 2007.The Hindu Milk MiracleThe Hindu milk miracle was first observed on September 21, 1995. A worshiper in a south-Delhi temple made a routine offering of milk to a statue of a Hindo god, and the liquid disappeared from the bowl, appearenly sucked in by the trunk of the statue. In a matter of few hours, the word spread that a similar phenomenon could be replicated with statues all over North India. Similar ‘miracles’ were also reported on in 2006.Genital Retraction SyndromeGenital Retraction Syndrome is a form of mass hysteria where people are overcome with the belief that their genitals (most commonly penises and breasts) are shrinking, or retracting into the body. Sometimes people even believe that they may spontaneously disappear. Such panics have occurred in many different places in the world, but most commonly in Africa in Asia. The panics are noticably more common in places with lower standards or provision of eductaion and where the local understanding of science and biology are lacking. The 2006 Mumbai Sweet Seawater IncidentIn 2006, residents of Mumbai claimed and began reporting that the water at one of the most polluted creeks in India, the Mahim Creek, had turned sweet. The claim, as ridiculous as it sounds considering that the creek receives thousands of tonnes of raw sewage and industrial waste every day, caused many to drink the water and save it in plastic bottles for later consumption.________________________________________________
UFO Hovering Over St. Edmundsbury Cathedral Causes Power Blackout
Posted: 07 Dec 2008 10:46 AM CST
Last Saturday night a slightly luminous grey UFO was reported to police in the historic town of Bury St Edmunds in the United Kingdom. The UFO was seen spinning and hovering over the St Edmundsbury Cathedral by a townsman. Now it has emerged that the UFO was also seen by a staff member of the Cathedral. Sarah Friswell, the Cathedrals visitor officer, noted that the topic of the mysterious craft had come up in a staff meeting and one of the staff members confessed to also witnessing the rather clear UFO of a very ‘Classical’ appearance.More interestingly the sighting was accompanied by unusual power cuts, confirmed by the Cathedral administration, that could not be explained by the local electricity provider. Many have claimed that such sightings are in fact pranks by hobbyists involving RC flying models, yet the power cut seems to somewhat disprove this theory as it is unlikely any hobbyist could pull such a feat off. Also interesting is the historic significance of the town Bury St Edmunds. The town is said to be the place where the idea of the Magna Carta was born and hence a birthplace of modern democracy. The town is also the burial place of a number of ancient Saxon Kings and was once regarded as a place of miracles. Overall Bury St Edmunds in the county of Suffolk, just outside London, is regarded as one of the UK's great historic towns. All this begs the question, are visitors from space interested in our history and going on tours of places of historical significance? After all this is not the first sighting in this area in recent months. The more pessimistic amongst ufologists have a far more worrying theory: The aliens might be documenting our history prior to putting into action a plan that will either end it altogether or change in forever.________________________________________________
Videos: The Pinatubo Monster - SciFi 'Destination Truth'
Posted: 08 Dec 2008 06:36 PM CST
If you live in a Filipino village with an economy primarily based on fishing, it could present quite a problem if five monsters suddenly show up in your water keeping everybody land-locked out of fear. Some say this is what caused the current world-wide economic meltdown. Others claim we just made that up right now.Still others claim five snake-like black beasts did show up in the local waters of a Philippine island of Luzon. In November of 2002 a Filipino boy reported seeing a big black creature swimming near his village. He thought he was seeing a log until the thing moved - showing off a little more of its shape. The description now given it is that it looked like a cross between a catfish and a shark. The boy screamed, bringing other locals to his aid - but the creature was gone.About two months later a a whole bunch of people reported seeing the same thing at the same time - a creature measuring three feet wide and seven feet long. Their description was that the creature seemed to be rolling as it swam down stream.Pandemonium ensued. As the website American Monsters puts it:“Although there are no accounts of malicious river monsters in any Aeta lore, the tribal leaders have taken drastic actions in order to avoid any civilian casualties. In the small village of Labuan, children are no longer allowed to bathe or play in the river and men and women have ceased fishing altogether, forcing the members of their community to subsist on a diet whose sole source of protein consists of captured frogs.”Via a local newspaper tribal leaders requested the Philippine government to send a scientist for the purpose of getting their people mostly off of the all-frog diet. Their request was granted, and without seeing anything, said scientist determined a school of fish was causing the madness. Not much of an answer, right? Well don’t fret - the Sci Fi channel is on it. Their show Destination Truth reportedly investigated things. They didn’t find anything either. Now you can fret.Lastly - there is at least one strange guess as to where the creatures came from. There is an abandoned gold mine relatively close to the village with the sightings. While it was operating it dumped tons of mercury into the water. According to PinatuboMonster.com:“Another theory often disregarded is that the Pinatubo Monster is the product of toxic waste dumped into the river creating new mutant hybrid creatures…Since the locals have stopped fishing for safety reasons, we have yet to hear of any reports of fish being toxic or causing birth defects in villages.”________________________________________________

Video: UFO Over Grand Haven, Michigan
Posted: 09 Dec 2008 12:30 PM CST
Witness statement: On November, 28th 2008 at 11:28 PM Tom Maat & Amberrose Hammond called me out on the deck where they were talking to look at what they were looking at. I was on the couch watching the film “Police Academy” when they called me. I came out on the deck and they pointed out what they were seeing for me to cooberate with them. Tom Maat & Amberrose Hammond had been watching this for about 3 minutes before I came out. We all saw an object floating in the sky through the tree line in front of us. It was flying in all sorts of random patterns within, from our vantage point, at least a mile distance from left to right. It was very difficult to discern the distance it was away from us, but upon further inspection after the event, we drove out to the approximate area we think it was hovering and it was about 2 miles southwest from where we saw it from. We watched it for about five minutes and Tom Maat grabbed his camera to take some video and pictures. Tom started filming at 11:33 PM and filmed until 11:36 PM. The craft continuously just kept flying in erratic patterns randomly up and down and from side to side. I note that it was also doing “dive-bombs” back and forth kind of like a skateboarder does on a “half-pipe” styled ramp when they ride it. Tom Maat also took some still photos capturing the anomaly in a couple of the frames. It seemed to disappear at around 11:37 PM. We still stood and watched the sky and then it came back after about five minutes. This time, while it was still doing all the random maneuvers it seemed to get a little closer to us and saw some detail. I saw red, white, and green light emitting from it. I could not see any type of shape but Amberrose noted it looked like a rectangle. . This lasted for about another 5 minutes and then the object disappeared.________________________________________________

Alien Contactee: Reptilians on the Beach
Posted: 09 Dec 2008 12:01 PM CST
My name is Bonnie Jean Hamilton and I am a life-long alien contactee. I have had many experiences, both positive and negative as well as run-ins with military psychics and the secret government or illuminati. Now that people are starting to wake up to the true nature of our so-called reality, I thought I would write this short article about my one and only conscious experience with the reptilians. What I normally do is meet the star people or aliens in an altered state of consciousness. This is where alien visitations take place. Although these experiences are very real, they are not purely physical in nature but can manifest physical anomalies. This particular encounter occurred on a beach along the Atlantic Coast of the United States late at night on April 25, 1993. At first, I believed I was completely alone, so I was simply enjoying the night air and the soft crashing of the ocean waves. As I stood facing the water, I noticed some movement to my left.I turned and focused my vision to see a group of people up the beach from me, perhaps a kilometer away. I certainly hadn't expected to see anyone else there, so I became curious and began to walk in their direction. They noticed me about the same time and began to walk in my direction as one unit. As we got closer to each other, I realized there were about six people in this group. I could tell they were fairly tall and of a slim, athletic build, all about the same size. I soon noticed that none of them had hair and they were all dressed in what appeared to be military fatigues (camouflage tan and green BDUs and tan vests with many pockets). They wore no shirts under their vests. Though their general appearance was humanoid and they walked on two legs, they were clearly not human; their skin was mostly green and they moved with a sharp, keen alertness more akin to the movement of nervous iguanas. I was not frightened at all, just curious, so I kept walking toward them. When we were about ten yards from each other, the group stopped and I stopped as well. I could see that they were all male and apparently soldiers of some sort. We stared at each other. I could clearly discern their reptilian appearance, their reluctance to approach me, the hesitation, and the nervousness. It felt dangerous. When I am out exploring different states of consciousness and levels of reality, I am open to whatever I might discover, and I always attempt to maintain a calm, happy disposition no matter the circumstance. At the time of meeting the reptilians, I kept a happy smile on my face as I always do when meeting new people. I guess sometimes I’m just like a child. The reptilian leading the group came forward, toward me, and I continued walking at my regular pace toward him. Our eyes connected and did not disengage during the entire incident. I remained alert and aware throughout the event. The remainder of his group stayed behind. He and I continued to approach each other until we were less than one yard apart. He stood at least six foot tall, medium build, no hair, eyes the same size as mine but a brightly colored yellow with dark vertical slits, and his skin was rough and scaly with a greenish-brown hue. We studied each other briefly in silence. While I was delighted to be in the presence of a species new to me, he was confused and discontented. He did not seem like a nice person to me; in fact, my first impression was that he considered me a lesser being and was puzzled as to how I had the courage to approach him. I got the feeling I was not supposed to be there or, at least, he was confused as to why or how I had gotten there. Perhaps he was not accustomed to encountering reality jumpers like me.As we looked intently into each other’s eyes, I knew he was accessing a computer bank in his mind; one that was not his individual database, but a group mind sharing the same knowledge. Quite suddenly, his expression changed (and I first saw this in his eyes) to one of contemptuous tolerance. In other words, there was some reason he was forced to tolerate my presence, but he was not happy about it. Accessing that database in his mind gave him the information he sought and then he knew me by name. With recognition, he said, "Oh, Hello Bonnie,” and we shook hands while he frowned contemptuously. My eyes never left his and his eyes never left mine. I smiled, as I always do, and turned around to walk away. He also turned back to his group and they walked up the beach away from me.________________________________________________
Rock Throwing Poltergeists - Video
Posted: 09 Dec 2008 11:19 AM CST
I was reading on Cryptomundo Loren Coleman’s post about the possibility of cases where rocks, inexplicably are thrown around a certain area, either towards a person, house or randomly, could be linked to Bigfoot, or Sasquatch.Rock (or any object) throwing poltergeist activities have been recorded for ages. (hence the origin of the word poltergeist; “noisy spirit”). Mr. Coleman makes a good point about the possibility that most of these cases could be the product of a Bigfoot throwing rocks, which is a rudimentary technique that most apes use.It could be a vice-versa thing. Where people in the woods who experience rocks being hurdled at them or their homes are victims of a poltergeist and not a Bigfoot.I remember this story I read about awhile back. About a ghost of a child that would play mischievous pranks on the owners of a repair shop. The case was heavily witnessed by scores of customers and even some insurance agents that were investigating a break-in to the shop. The famous paranormal investigator Maurice Grosse ( “Endfield” poltergeist) heavily documented this case, as well as another professor. The following video deals with Pete the Poltergeist:A 2nd video is available HERE________________________________________________
Canada Coroner Matches Pair of Mysterious 'Washed Up' Feet
Posted: 09 Dec 2008 10:55 AM CST
A coroner has matched a pair of dismembered female feet that mysteriously washed up on the shores of British Columbia. The British Columbia coroner said Friday it had matched a female right foot discovered on Canada's West coast in November with a left foot discovered in May. Both were encased in New Balance running shoes. They were among five feet that have mysteriously floated ashore along the Strait of Georgia between Vancouver Island and the British Columbia mainland since August 2007.A sixth foot was found on Washington State's Olympic Peninsula about 30 miles west of Port Angeles in August. The peninsula is separated from B.C.'s Vancouver Island by the Strait of Juan de Fuca. All six feet were found in athletic shoes."In all cases, these remains appear to have naturally separated from the body," said the B.C. Coroners Service.DNA testing linked one of the Canadian feet to a depressed man who disappeared in 2007. Investigators have also concluded that two of the five feet belonged to one man who has not yet been identified.Experts say that when a human body is submerged in the ocean, the arms, legs, hands, feet and head usually come off the body. The Coroners Service said it is difficult to determine how long remains have been in the water. The Coroners Service uses physical characteristics and DNA analysis of the feet to establish a profile. Those profiles are maintained in a provincial database for future comparisons.Police have said they are reviewing almost 300 missing persons files to try to match up the feet.
Photo: The Purple Frog of Western India

The Purple frog (or Pignose frog), discovered just five years ago in western India, likely escaped detection because it lives underground, emerging for just two weeks during the monsoon season. Distinguished by a pointed snout, it’s related to a family of frogs now found only on the Seychelles islands, which split from India 100 million years ago.Unlike many other burrowing species of frogs that emerge and feed above the ground, this species has been found to forage underground feeding mainly on termites using their tongue and a special buccal groove. They show inguinal amplexus when mating afloat in temporary rainwater pools.

Rods, sometimes known as Sky Fish or Solar Entities, are a rather new entry in the field of cryptozoology. They are said to be creatures which flit about in the air at such a high speed as to not be seen by the naked eye.

------------------------------

I am slightly disabled and many think that most of the things that went on around me I have made up. I am willing to state when I was vary sleepy or not sure if this happened or not. It might be in my mind only. There has been other things that happened when I was wide a wake and knew it was real some even saw the same things I did. Some came up with their own ideas of what they saw where while others refused to except them as being something strange and they just said they where not going to look into it and walked away ignoring it.
About me I was born dead. I got a milled case of Cerebral Palsy with organic brain damage. Big words that mainly mean that do to my being dead I did not get air to my brain fast enough and some of it died and was damaged and I am trying to deal with life with a damaged brain. Just because my brain is damaged dose not mean that I cant see things that are real and the fact that some times others where involved just adds to the fact that we cant all be seeing something that was not real. To this day and age I am still experiencing things but not as much as when I was younger. I am no expert on what strange things our atmosphere can do to light waves and all the other odd things that might pop up like ball lightning. I am willing to state what I know really happened and I am willing to stand behind it and put my hand on the bible and say that this really happened. I will even relate the things that I am not sure really happened and state that I only thought back over the incidents and this pop into my head as I was thinking about it and I am not sure that that is real or that my mind trying to put some understanding to things and made it up some how. I will even stand behind what others have told me about things that went on with them and how I feel that they where not joking about this stuff. I will not repeat stuff that seem more of a joke by the jerks who told me what they saw. Sorry I only will talk about the real things that came from those I knew where not joking around and I will talk about the things that IA saw and did and know are real and will talk about the things I am not sure are real or not but I will always make sure that when talking about the stuff I know for sure and the stuff I may have made up years later that there is a deference and that I will be sure that those I am talking with know that. I am also open to what people who are experts on the things that go on in the sky with weather and light bending to see if they have any answerers that this could be something that was miss identified or something that happens but is rear to happen. In the end all I can do is say what I know and willing to listen to others and let them make up their minds as to except what I say and how I say it and make up their own minds I do not have time now to go into all I know and saw and heard. I also don't have time to go into the stuff that I am not sure of I don't have time to go through the stuff I was told by others either. I will take 3 things and let you read them and be willing to talk about more. stuff at an other time.
First is something real that happened.
I have forgotten the date but it was mid October of 92. It was late out and while the sky was vary clear there was no moon. It happened at 18882 Dodd Blvd just a few miles north of the town or city as it likes to be called Lakeville MN 55044. At that time and area there was more farmland then homes. Still there where a few homes in the area. Not like now. I was pulling out of the driveway that ran from my home as that is where I was. I was going some place. The road runs kind of north to south. I say kind of as there are many little curves and it does not run straight north and south. My drive way ran east to west from the road to the house,
I was facing west at the end of the drive way. I was going to turn onto the road. I wanted to be sure nothing was coming. I was about to take off onto the road and I stopped. I spotted a black object that was blotting out the stars behind it moving roughly West to east with a little angle so it looked like some type of north west to south east track. I did not look at my watch or keep track of time. It seemed to be several minuets to me and maybe have been as long as 5 minuets. I have had it happen to me where Something odd happened and I was having trouble dealing with it where my mind took seconds and made them into minuets. So this could have happened that night as the thing seemed to be going fast. I am no good at distance sizes and speeds and all that other stuff. I only know that I felt sure the first few moments of the sighting that the thing was coming at me. I came to this as it was getting higher in the sky and bigger by blocking out more stars. When the thing passed over head OK not really straight over my head but close enough. The thing was bigger then the whole Acer of ground my home sat on. I saw rings as I call them on the bottom. The outer ring was definitely the out line of the thing as it was black and blotted out the stars. Now this is your classic saucer almost so coming at me from the was I saw it it appeared to be domed on tip. From under it looked disk shaped. This black band was thick enough so you could see it. Now the only place I saw any lights was under it. As it passed close to over head. It had 8 lights though. 4 outer and 4 inner. Inside of this dark ring was the first light ring as I call it. It was 4 big lights that would be several feet wide by several feet long. They curved with the craft perfectly. Red, yellow . blue and green. There was like 4 dark spokes separating them. They could have been a few inches or a foot or so depending on how high it was. Inside the first light ring there was a second dark ring. I could also make out that it was extending from the bottom like a large straw or tube hanging down. I am not sure by how much but it looked to be taller then a man. I do know this tube was more the size of my house acrostic. Just like the larger lights there was a row around the ring to of 4 lights the same colors as the outer lights but smaller and it looked like someone had turned the tube as they did not line up excitedly right with the bigger lights. In side this was an other disk of black. Note going over it in my head a few days later trying top think what it could be I felt this final inner part that was black also extended out but will not stat that as fact. I saw no other lights and saw no nose. wings or tail like a plan and it was moving faster then most plans and also made no sound.

Case 2 this is something like what I am talking about when I say that my mind might have made this up.
I don't know what date or month it was but was some time after my seeing the disk and 1996 as my grandmother was alive and she died in 96 I do recall talking to her about it. I was sleeping and real tired. I rolled over in my bed to get into a more comfortable position of laying. I had been a sleep who knows how long and still dark out and I had a night light on. Well when I rolled I went to adjust the pillows and the blankest's. While doing this my eyes popped open for a few moments and then I calmly went back to sleep and slept vary well. Witch I should not have done. See with the night light on and my eyes open for a moment I looked around and there standing next to my bed was one of throes gray little people with the big black eyes standing there looking at me. I will not say it really happened because I was vary tired and went back to sleep. I have heard of people who where half a sleep having some dream that seemed real to them. I do know I like to watch shows and read books on Ghosts/ U F O's and Bigfoot and just maybe my dream mind popped one of throes things down next to my bed and I thought it was really there. I don't think I will ever be sure.

Case 3 is something someone told me that I think really happened.
I am not sure abbot the conditions or the weather or the except spot. My grandmother was born in 1913 and when she was a kid some where like 7 to 15 or so Her family had a farm near St. Catherans lake. A small lake in Scott county that is some 10 or 20 miles from where I now live in Lakeville MN. At that time they and many other framers left their pigs out in the AM to run wiled and find their own food and water. Late in the afternoon they go round up the pigs. The pigs had found the green grass and whatever else growing in a small swamp on the shore of the lake to be the best. So only 2 or 3 of the kids where sent out to look for the pigs and hurdy them back to the pen for the night. This day my grand mother and an older sister where sent out. When they got to the swamp some type of bright light that they never saw before scared the life out of them. They ran home and told their older brother. Now they had been living around this lake and swamp for many years and should know what swamp gas is and looks like. I cant sat though as I was not there. When he head what they said he got his best rife and ran to the swamp. Many hours later he came back scared to death shaking all dirty and cloths messed up and he did not have his rife with him. He never went back to look for it noire did he ever tell anyone what happened there.

Well that is it. I am not trying to make anything up and there are lots more odd stuff that I can talk about. I will not here. I will E-mail you some every so often when I gave time. You can post them or whatever. I am also willing to chat on the U F O chat room when I can and I am willing to let others who want to IM me or E-mail me their thoughts about this stuff and anything they like. I am looking for friends and have many interests and This strange stuff that science don't look to well at is just one of them. Have a great day Jeff

In that message that did not get sent to you, I mentioned a friend of mine and an organize he refers to as the UFO Hunters.

He was outside with his camera, shooting the night sky, as he does frequently; an image appeared on his camera, in two separate frames, that made him run inside and hide under his blanket...as he described it! The energy followed him inside and he claims he could feel it from his hiding place. At one point, he said he peeked out from the covers and viewed [it] leave toward the end of the hall; he noticed his three cats were looking in that same direction. He is 33 yrs old and otherwise appears to be stable and a 'normal' person. We have had many conversations re 'other' intelligence known to him; and the possibility of such beings. This is the first time he has revealed any thing of substance, to me. He is also financially well-to-do and I have known him for over 20 yrs.

I had a look at these images, and, although I viewed a phone video representation of the original, it looked like a face similar to the impression of what someone is claiming was left by Christ on his shroud. I could not clearly make out the other image in the photo; but my friend claims it is another face of smaller beings...a side view. My friend claims that someone from England offered an undisclosed sum of money; upward of $10,000, and a lab set up for my friend to continue to explore the sky.

It seems he has not used this camera since, and it is safely locked up somewhere with the images still in it's memory card.

I don't see how shooting the night sky could produce these images on his camera. There is no impression of any star streaks or any other anything in the frames.

He does not need...or seem to even want the money...or the fame.

He believes some life form is scheduled to appear, at some time, here on Earth.

Dave...hope you are feeling well enough to pass this along. The alien children got a message through to me via the chip in my head. Long story. Anyway the aliens have been here drilling oil for centuries. They are making high powered rocket fuel out of it. Never imagined they needed oil. That's what the fight is really about. You can see where this is going. All they need do is play "God" to us and we fight....enough said. We weren't in the way until recently. We started using up the oil reserves. We are in the way of things. Really bad for us. I know people think I'm crazy but there seems to be more to it. Take it into consideration. That's all I know.
Take care Dave
